there is this new guy at work. he is 20 years old, and i am 27. I have always been told i am young for my age. He approached me like he wants to be friends. One of the first things he asked me was how old i was. I was standing with another guy talking when he asked this. he completely ignored the other guy. After that, he kept coming around my area at work (retail store). I pretended like i didnt see him a few times. I wanted to see what he was doing. He always looked at me, looked away, smiled, and continued on his way. He thinks i didnt see him. He then asked me if i was this one girls he knows brother who he said is younger than him. I said no. I walked past him and he gave me an affectionate look where he looked at my mouth, then up to my eyes. I looked her up on facebook and she is hot. When i talk to him, he never talks about girls. hasnt mentioned it once. I heard that when a guy wants to be friends with another guy, he talks about girls so the other guy doesnt think he is gay. A few days later he asked for my phone number and said that we should "chill". He asked for my full name also. I saw him put it into his phone. I walked past him and he gave me an affectionate look where he looked at my mouth, then up to my eyes. he hasnt texted me yet. any thoughts?

Workplace flirtations, and more, are perilous. Safest bet is to get sex outside the workplace - and not with fellow employees. Your employer probably has sexual harassment protocols in place; time to refresh yourself.

Welcome to JUB. I am living in The Netherlands and workplace flirtations are no problem at all in my country (its different in the US).

It seems to me that he is interested in you and that he would like to make contact with you. Why not send him a friend request through Facebook? At work, you have alot of low-profile opportunities to meet him, to greet him and to have small-talk with him. Towards my opinion, its very easy to arrange a meeting (his proposal of 'chilling') with him and use this meeting to know more about each other.

Is he aware that you are gay / are people (girls!) at your work aware that you are gay? You don't have a girlfriend/wife and you are not interested in girls. so maybe quite a few of the girls working over there will have their ideas?

Not sure if he's just being a friendly person or anything. You know sometimes our mind see things that we wanna see. But I dunno, I wasn't actually there to witness the interaction so I wouldn't write-off your suspicions.

Maybe you could flirt back a little. Ask him out for lunch or something while you guys are working together. Then maybe ask to hang out after work. It could be a friendly gesture if it turns out he wasn't actually interested. When you guys are hanging out probably you could dig deeper into this and find out if he's gay/straight or if he's interested or not.
