Is HIV as widespread as people say among gays?

As nasty as it sounds IMO theres one way to "solve" the HIV issue and thats to round up everyone whos got it and ship them off to an island together (kind of like a prison I suppose) and then the virus would die out because everyone whos carrying it would be on this island.
However we can't really do that can we, could solve alot of the worlds STI's this way though haha
Hilarious...

They tried this for leprosy and it wasn't particularly effective. Moreover, it certainly wasn't humane. In the case of HIV, it would quite possibly even make spread of the disease worse. Who would bother getting an HIV test if a positive result meant you would be exiled to an island (effectively imprisoned) for the rest of your life? More people would simply wait until they were showing symptoms of AIDS to bother figuring out what they had, probably infecting others in the mean time. Furthermore, you could imagine people convinced they had contracted it not going to the doctor at all for treatment lest they be sent away.
