  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is HOT TOPICS the Place To Campaign for Your Personal Political, Religious, Moral Views?

I think people who use the "ignore button" are mentally weak or anger easily ?
Because it is so easy to skip the posts or just voice your opinion if you think you are right.

Exactly. Until the quoted posts are ignored as well, the ignore button is, as you said, pretty-much useless.

I cannot agree with that assessment, although I share the frustration at a system that is sometimes defeated. There are dozens of posts in this thread, some of them directed at me, that I cannot see, yet I know the trolls all too well, so have the pleasure of my, er, um, pleasure. My every post is not "balanced" by a harrying retort or the need to keep swatting a cockroach. I get to talk to the topics and move on. And I'm not missing any reality of the forum. We can all know there is madness and mental illness out there without having to actually listen to the ravings of every madman.

I can say that long as I been on this forum, I never not once used the ignore button.

People are allowed to have their opinion, regardless if I agree with or not. I just choose not to agree with it, and maybe challenge them to see why they have their values that they do. People are going to have their opinions though.

I'm shocked that every post is, "I just use the ignore button".

These are probably the same gays that use the ignore button on other gays too in public. lol.

Yes. And they probably don't pay their taxes. And they probably cheer when terrorists mow down masses. And they eat small children too. That Ignore button is a litmus test, that's what it is.

I hope Homeland Security is wise to it. Saves a helluva lotta time.

Not really.

Again there are people that are either annoying or don't actually anything that isn't trying to be snarky, insulting or disruptive. if people were ignoring each other because of opinion, half this board wouldn't blow up in half the topics.

Examples, what is the purpose of these posts outside of baiting? Easy candidate to put on your ignore list.

No, it doesn't. It does "something" but doesn't actually ignore. It posts a big message that says "HEY! So and so posted a message but you're ignoring them.... CLICK HERE TO SEE IT!!!!" ....or something like that. That is NOT ignore.

If ignore worked, it would show nothing. If they start a thread, you would not see the thread at all. If ignore worked, it would be like they don't exist.

The way "ignore" works now, just encourages you not to ignore.

I don't have anyone on ignore. The only time I ever ignored someone was Sloppyseconds for posting gibberish with nothing of value to the discussion, but then I eventually took him off ignore.

There's some people who I really don't agree with at all, but I still want to see their comments.

Some even invent pointless and silly HOT TOPICS subjects in order to vent their personal views of such things as Islam (which properly belongs in the religion forum).

Islam does not recognize a separation between religion and what in the West is regarded as the secular world. Religion suffuses all.
And as the recent Paris, Brussels and Orlando shootings illustrate, Islam affects our everyday life whether or not we are interested in the tenets of the faith. Islam may belong in the Religion Forum, but it belongs in Hot Topics as well.

Sloppy really did use up a lot of eyespace at one time...but sadly seems to have run out of syllables and consonants and vowels for us.
