Is Islam a danger for Western civilization?

Fundamentalism is the threat to civilization.

Definitely, whether it's Muslim, Christian, atheist, or whatever. Though technically fundamentalism means holding fast to the fundamentals of a thing, what it means in practice is ignore inconvenient facts, set truth below agenda, and avoid critical thinking.

OTOH, apathy may be a bigger threat to civilization, because it's what will let fundamentalists take over step by step. So if Islam is a danger for the West, it's only so because so many in the West are apathetic.

OTGH, inclusiveness can come in a fundamentalist form, and fundamentalist inclusivism may be the greatest threat of all, because it not merely doesn't care about the danger, it welcomes it in.

The way the Mohammedans INDISCRIMINATELY kill Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Atheists, Homosexuals, etc... I'll say they're a DANGER to ALL civilizations!

Horseshit. There's nothing Islamic about the spire, and the tower wasn't even built by Muslims. This kind of conspiracy theory just makes the Islamophobes look even more ridiculous.
Some New Yorkers will differ with you.

Definitely. Similarity in looks is a very moronic way to identify things. If that's Islamic, so was most of the US Pacific Fleet just before WWII.

We used to make lots of babies back in the old days because we needed unpaid labour to work on the farms or in the mill.

But children are just a very expensive hindrance now we all work in offices and struggle to pay all the utility bills.

A hindrance to what, Pat?

A hindrance to what, Pat?

I speak metaphorically*: I work in a mill but don't need unpaid labour to work in the fields for me

..Similarity in looks is a very moronic way to identify things...

Yes, it's silly if you're sophisticated people like we are and who have the internet. But it's a good way to identify things if you're someone who's illiterate or doesn't know a second language or who spends their days with cows or tilling the fields or even if you're a natural-born moron. There's a moron from my country named David Hicks; he joined the Taliban so he could play with guns. :##:

And many of my fellow Middle East scholars would agree that they're idiots. But I'll entertain you--tell me, who's behind this supposed Islamic architectural conspiracy?

Hey, I never said it was my theory, don't entertain me. It was on a local New York news show.

The spire was clearly a deliberate attempt to deter Muslims from flying a plane into the new WTC.

I find the very thought of a "Muslim Rapper" a bit more than I can wrap my head around.

Wouldn't rapping be emulating a culture they despise?

I don't know much about rap but it seems predominantly male oriented just like most Muslim cultures.

The state of women - although Muslims are all covered and in rap videos barely wearing anything - are subjugated in both cultures.

Most Muslim men and most rappers and their ilk are homophobic.

Also religion/blind faith seems to be a common denominator among both these groups so I'm not surprised at all that there is a Muslim rapper.

There are quite a few Muslim rappers. There's also a Muslim heavy metal community (the documentary "Taqwacore" is a good source of info on them), and there's at least one Muslim country singer (Kareem Salama). As I said before, Muslims aren't even remotely a homogeneous community.
