When I go to movies with mates, we sit next to each other, dont see the issue

all cool, if your mates straight and is your mate why should he care???

I consider myself st8 acting but attracted to guys. my st8 best friend (whom I haven't told about my attraction to guys) and I used to go to the Movie Theatre all the time and sit right next to each other in a theatre. But recently he has adopted this idea that this is not ok.

To me, it has never been a gay, st8 or odd thing. I have just always thought it was alright to sit next to each other in a theatre with a girl or another guy and it not be a big deal.

I think I am learning it's one of those "guy code" things, but it's still dumb.

Like, if you are not comfortable enough with ur sexuality (gay or st8) to sit next to a same sex platonic friend in a Movie Theatre, that's kinda lame.

I really think it depends on the ages of the two or more friends. As pre-teens, there is no stigma or problem. As teens, it really depends on your posture. Do you "spread" or sit upright? That tells a lot to others around you. Ordinarily, it shouldn't matter, right? Anyone older, as in the 20s plus, nobody really gives a darn, unless you show overt signs of touchy-feely behavior. Even then, outside of a few remarks, nobody cares much, except friends who may know you or boy-girl couples who feel uncomfortable around demonstrative same-sex behavior. Older couples age 30 plus usually save erotic behavior for the couch at home.
