  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is it ever a good idea to admit that you’re lonely?

i dunno. i guess if its an honest answer to an honest question...

Hmmm...I'm not sure. You'd think admitting something like that would be pathetic, but I guess it depends on where the question is coming from. If it's a close friend or family member that's asking, fine, admit it. If it's someone you're interested in, I'd stay away from lonely and spring for available. :D

It depends on the person and how it was asked. Some people want the truth and some people want the Truth.

Now that I think about it maybe the reason I am lonely is my humor.

Yeah, I hate those people.

I tend to always tell the truth (partly because of my autism) so I tend to scare people.

Rather than worry about being lonely and spending timing posting here, go and find some friends and stop being lonely?

Its not that easy. My autism freaks people out at times and when it doesn't my protective front messes up my chances.

Unlikely. [-X

I am a bit strange though. Most people don't get when I am having fun writing or talking I use a lot of double meanings. Those that do seem to be the ones that get me.

:help:

I sypathise with you, and agree it may be very difficult, but I am sure there is some sort of forum / group, local to you where you can mix and start to find friends?

For me, personally, it would depend on who's asking and/or my mood at that moment.

It's probably not a problem mentioning it in an internet group, or when confiding to a friend who's offered to listen to your concerns, etc.

However, saying you're "lonely" to somebody you're trying to pick up, probably is NOT a good idea...

I have been telling alot of my friends that I have been lonely recently. Im still living at home at 22 in suburbia and I work in the city. A person my age, who is single, has no purpose at all to be stuck in suburbia. I plan on actually heading into Providence this weekend for some fun with a few friends.
