  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

is it fun to Iritate religous people ?

'Tis indeed amusing. As for the Helen Lovejoys screaming "won't somebody think of the CHILDREN?!?"... At the very worst, this billboard offers parents a chance to have a frank discussion with their children about the biblical story of Jesus' birth.

I don't really see anything wrong with it.

If it would have said Joseph was better than god then people would be mad about that too.

Since it was a church that was behind this ad, I don't see any problem with it.

It's really funny, in fact.

Out of curiosity, what would have been your problem with it if it wasn’t a church that posted it?

sometimes i text random people and tell them that jesus loves you! lol, its fun!

None really, as it's a cute, funny and light-hearted ad.

If it had revealed any bigotry, hatred, intolerance toward belief, then I might have issues.

But I wouldn't be "incensed" or off to start a crusade... :-)

I don't think that would be fun, nor do I think it fun to irritate religious people.

Why irritate anyone?

well, they believe in non sense, why not have a bit of fun ...

It's so much fun to irritate religious people.

These Christians came to my apartment door one time asking if I was saved, and I said no. So they started in on their whole "You need to accept Christ".

And I said "Did you not see the sign at the entrance of this complex? It says 'No Soliciting'. Now leave before I call the police" and closed the door on their faces.

I think that ad is really funny, and anyone who has a problem with it needs to pull their heads out of the ground.

Thats not right. Just kindly listen to them and wishing them the best will do.

The generally religious? No. Fundamentalists and literalists? Yep, and so very easy. Just mention something like the impossibility of marsupials on the ark, and they go nuts.

Why would it be impossible for there to be marsupials on the ark?

Why would it be impossible for there to be marsupials on the ark?

By the time the Ark was purportedly constructed marsupials were confined to very, very particular portions of the world (i.e. South East Asia and the Australias). In roder for them to be present on the Ark and not be drowned with the rest, Noah and his family would have had to travel to these areas from the Middle East, gather up the requisite creatures and everything required to sustain them, transport them BACK to the Middle East, keep them sustained in the foreign climate whilst the Ark was constructed, and so on and so forth.

Taken literally, the Ark story is so riddled with absurdity even a five year old can poke great big massive holes in it. Taken as an allegory, it is a fairly interesting metaphor concerning the occassional necessity to deconstruct so that reconstruction can begin.

i think the ad is a bit insensitive.

i am one of the first to complain when the church says anything against gays...but still this is a people's faith we are talking about...to dismiss it is just as intolerant as dismissing someone's right to marriage

Not especially, anyway not any more fun than irritating any/every body else. Hells Bells, look at 37.6969 % of the posters here please. (no names are given so as to protect the irritated)
