Is it us or does Spectre kinda... sucked?

My boyfriend and I went to see Spectre last night. The first hour was somewhat interesting. And then the movie seemed to drag on and on after that. The ending was meh.

I still can't get over the obvious plot holes.

Remember when James gave that nerdy guy the ring and the nerdy guy was able to link every villain in all the other movies to a single organization? And not just that, from just that ring he was able to "DNA confirm" that a dead guy is still alive. No explanation at all was given how the fuck he got all of that from scanning the ring with his computer for a couple seconds.

And I would have loved for an explanation to how such an organization that dealt with human trafficking and every other ilk in society all around the world could go under the radar for so long. No explanation for that either.
 
Bond films have always demanded suspension of belief and ignoring plot holes and continuity errors.

It is really about the joy of shit blowing up.

Even shit blowing up is very lacking in this movie. Like I said, the movie seemed to drag on and on and on and on and on. For example, why the hell was the train scene where he's just sitting around 30 minutes long?
 
It's an Anglophile thing.

Americans like to be reminded we are programmed to worship all things British, especially if they're from the faded glory of yesteryear. The ongoing promotion of Bond gets weaker as it goes further from the Cold War and the strongest unity in post-WWII between the two empires.

PBS, for example, for all its vaunted multiculturalism, can never manage to get its head out of the British ass and really make good on its promise to be of all the people. It's inherently class-bound and W.A.S.P-ish.
 
I felt the same way. Movie was really nothing special. Story was dumb and acting was bad. Lots of action so that is the only thing that saved it. The last three James Bond movies have not been good. The only good one by Daniel Craig is casino royale. Also i hate Sam Mendes, horrible director and i have no idea y they had him direct another bond film.

I would say that, as one counterexample, entertainment from the UK is billions of light years ahead of entertainment from Bollywood in terms of its quality. Plus it is accessible without subtitles.
 
First scene with M and C could have been cut down, nobody cares about office politics. Another scene with M and bond at the beginning could have been cut out or down, we know bond is a renegade agent.
The end of the movie was pretty weak, the villian in supposed to be in complete control until he dies from his own plan, not allowed to bargain the girl for his life back. The love story was not like previous bond where shes a supporter not a distraction.
Was nice looking movie with too much fan service.
And the helicopter scene, which villian is this number 1 2 3 4 or 5? And the old guy in the house? Is this a saw movie now?
 
It is interesting to hear the noises Craig was making on the promotion stump, suggesting he doesn't like Bond. Then there is the supposedly "leaked" DMZ audio where he is squealing and crying like a pig during aerial stunt scenes.

I was disenchanted with the direction of the series at his very first film in it, with idiotic CGI scenes of him jumping around in a skyscraper's elevator shaft like he was a superhero on a X-men set. Out of character is an understatement.
 
Is'nt the Bond car actually a Land Rover in the movie? Looked like it was going to be a let down just by the boring choice of vehicle.
 
I've not seen the new Bond yet... probably won't until it hits Blu-Ray so I'll reserve judgement, but personally, I'm of the opinion that View to a Kill was the worst of the Bond outings and that takes us back thirty years.

View to a Kill is my favorite Bond theme and yes... it's one of the worst movies.
