I just have XP 32-bit on my new system at the moment. I intend on putting Windows 7 on it when it comes out next month. I'm trying to decide if I should stick with W7-32 or go to W7-64. If I go 64 would I have problems with applications, particularly older applications that I'm very fond of? Does the 64 OS then run in high-memory and run 32 bit apps below the line? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there about the real pros and cons but it sure seems 64-bit is the wave of the future.

Is it worth it to go 64-bit?

I've had no problems running 32-bit applications in 64-bit Vista. Pretty much seamless. The nice thing it seems for Windows 7 is that it appears the package installation will support either 32-bit or 64-bit without having to buy different versions. That was always annoying, because I have a lot of computers and they're not all 32 or 64.
The main benefit is being able to have more than 4GB of RAM. If you use memory intensive apps like Photoshop this is huge plus.
If you just do web browsing and email, etc you won't notice much difference.

I decided to do 64bit when Win 7 comes out next month. I'll have 12GB of RAM. I would sure think that's enough! Heck the first computer I ever worked on only had 64K and the memory box was the size of a dishwasher.
The video card is an EVGA GTX-275. The MB is capable of hosting up to 3 video cards on the SLI bridge. Although at this point I'm only getting one. I'm not sure I need more than one video card. I don't do games but I'll do graphics and video editing.
