Washington Post goes full Trump authoritarian. Opposing views not allowed. They're really trying to commit suicide, aren't they.

As part of the overhaul, the Post will publish daily opinion stories on two editorial “pillars”: personal liberties and free markets, Bezos teased in an X post on Wednesday morning after announcing the change in a company-wide email. The Post’s opinion section will cover other subjects, too, Bezos wrote, but “viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others.”

“I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America,” Bezos wrote. “I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion. I’m excited for us together to fill that void.”

Bezos is angling to get the Post Office handed to Amazon...so the sucking noises are so loud I can hear them from here.

I always thought it was a tragedy that he bought a newspaper. Past experience with oligarchs owning the press have never turned out well.

The craziest thing though is using the phrase 'free markets'.

It is a sign of some panic though. Bezos knows that the broader public is turning against the rich looting the treasury and hurting the middle class and poor.

I think he also foresees the downturn in consumer spending on-line and a turning away from Amazon and is looking to keep some narrative alive that will have people fighting one another versus coming after the tech bros.

Personal liberties likely only refers to the broligarchs and cis white het males and 'free' markets sounds like what the robber barons of 1896 were trying to sell before Teddy Roosevelt started cutting them down to size.

Legacy media probably pretty much shot a hole through their temple with the WH debacle yesterday.

The US media headlines present it as if President Zelenskyy who somehow hurt Ukraine’s interest for not being deferential. CNN accused him of daring to “invade Trump’s disinformation space.” As if using truth to challenge lies was just bad policy. It's not like any American media would dare do such a thing. Not a chance.

Canadians should now have a much clearer picture of the regime that is making plans to invade and seize territory if we insist on defending our sovereignty and resisting TrumpCo.

Canadian leaders should resist any urge to put themselves through this same kind of theatre, thinking that maybe if we just let him rant and humiliate us, he will get bored and move on.

And I can't see the MAGAts as suddenly turning to his paper as a source for their opinion.
