Is Money a Turnoff?

It's not a turnoff by itself. How I found out about it can be a turnoff... like he told me right off the bat. People who talk about money are tedious. And people who look down on me for not having any and not really wanting any (money is only a means to get more stuff...I'm all about the stuff) are off my list.

And yes, Joe, we Americans have lots of different accounts. We have checking accounts from which we write checks (or checques... there just aren't enough Qs in American English), savings accounts into which we put money by for a rainy day, 401(k) and/or IRA accounts into which we put money for our retirement, CD and money-market accounts designed to increase interest in the short term, credit accounts on which to charge things and pay later, Christmas accounts into which you put money and can't get it back until Christmas, and all sorts of other kinds of accounts. Not all of these accounts will be held by the same institution, either.

A lot of banks offer integrated banking much like the current account you describe, but each account is still a separate entity... my checking, credit, and savings accounts are all integrated in one bank, but I can close one account and not the others if I want; other people will have mortgages and IRAs integrated as well. Then I have another credit card with a different bank, an account with my car credit agency, and a two retirement funds somewhere else that I don't really understand.

Fun, huh?

Whats with this "checking account" lark.... ive never understood the US financial system.

Here inthe UK you got a current account.. where you pay money into, wages etc, any other money, then you can do what you want with it, write cheques, make switch transactions, set up standing orders to move money to other accounts, direct debits to pay bills automatically etc etc...

Do you guys have a seperate account to write cheques from or something?

Or is "checking account" just the American way of saying "current account"?

Checking account is used to pay bills...usually low or no interest.

Savings account is separate...interest is paid by bank into the account and also they offer incentives to hold a certain balance in that account to get free checking and other perks. You always have access to that money, but basically...they get to use your money for their investments.

. . . . .

Banks give us the choice of a lot of accounts over here, but they are really just a way to suck more money out of us. Different accounts have different fees.

I guess I'll interject my personal feelings now.

Just the fact that a guy makes more money than me, honestly, turns me off at first. He can be humble or he can be proud. I'm a very jealous person in general, or maybe it's my ego, probably both; but give me a few days and I'll be fine. I find myself most comfortable hanging out with a guy who has an income comparable to mine regardless of where it comes from; it can be old money from parents or new money from a successful occupation..

are you kidding???

money's a turn on!!!

the richer, the better.

It is neither a turn on or a turn off... It´s the person that´s important ..|

The lack of money certainly puts a damper on how sexy and attractive one appears.

Sorry, "G", but I gotta disagree with you on this one. I know some dirt-poor Guys who are Walking Pure Testosterone Sexy/Attractive!! And they aren't just Young ones, either! (group) :hurray: (!w!)

I also know some "Loaded" Guys, even in all their "finery", who are not only unattractive, but also verging on repulsive! :help: [-X

Clothes, and "stuff", do NOT make the Man! Never have ... never will! #-o

Oh, Money may garner Attention, no doubt about that. But Sexy and Attractive are attribrutes that no amount of Wealth can buy!

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz ;)
