Is Mother Nature Fair?

That is the way nature is. Think about it: If the bear took the mother, how long would the calf survive anyway?

Is nature fair? Depends on who's view you're looking at.

From the calf's: Probably not.

From the bear's: Absolutely.

Just like God, Mother Nature doesn't exist, therefore the question of fairness is down to an evaluation that you place on it based on your own world outlook.

The mother elk/moose will probably miss the young, and then have new young. It's no more tragic than if the calf had died some other way.

Animals do things in the wild according to their instincts. They don't care what you or MN thinks.

Of course mother nature isnt fair.

Life isnt fair.

That's the way it goes... the bear has to eat.

Interesting video being able to get up close to that kinda action. Don't get anything of the sort here in the UK.

I guess your right. :(

I read the two guys were on a boat while fishing and just so happen to see this and record it.

the poor thing.

How do you know God doesn't exist? In your mind, maybe not, but to millions of others He does. But I do agree about it being natural instincts. Just like is mother nature fair when we raise cattle just so we can eat greasy burgers? No, but we have to eat something so we do what we need to in order to survive as a species so yeah

You can't believe both at the same time. He is a jealous god isn't he? ;)

Animal righters should picket Maccy D's and KFC....

In nature fairness and justice don't exist. I will never understand why people give human emotions and thought patterns to animals living in the wild.

Now, starting tomorrow: we should see Greenpeace, PETA,Brigitte Bardot and all the others showing up with cameraman.
protesting to free and protect little moose.

Mrs. Bardot's tied up:

PARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.

Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".

Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.

Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding: "I am a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot."

This is an excerpt of what happened by the person who taped the incident. I guess you could say the calf was the sacrificial lamb.

[My name is Mr. Haugen I took this video on a trip with my father in law a few years ago on a fly in fishing trip to Long Lake in Ontario, we jumped in the boats and went fishing, I could of had about 10 minutes of video but I had not put a blank tape in, It was an awesome site. There was two calfs and the mother stood inbetween and protected the second chance, She new that she would only be able to save the one. A moment my father in law and I will never forget!"]

Wether natures fair or not there's still summit out there among the animal kingdom, call it compassion or empathy or maybe its summit entirely different but its there...
