Is Obama flip-flopping?

If Clinton isn't getting elected now, she isn't ever going to be elected. Unless she serves as Obama's VP and keeps her nose clean, while making some viable political contributions.

A new bout of pandering for Obama . . .
flip-flopping on off-shore drilling?
I guess his 'principled stand' wasn't popular!

What it boils down to is that in Obama we have a relatively inexperienced Senator with no major accomplishments. We do have a voting record and we have positions from his speeches. It is discomforting to some to see him shifting around. His supporters will overlook it. And with enough shifting or moving to the center on his part, some wary of him may become less so, perhaps enough to vote for him.

For better or worse, in voting for him, we are taking a chance. We don't really know what we're getting, but this is often the case. Events after Inauguration Day usually carry an administration in unforseen directions.

Many are willing to take the chance. Sometimes the outcome is an Abraham Lincoln, and sometimes it's a Jimmy Carter. Usually, it's somewhere in between.

In any case, after eight years of Bush, many Americans are ready to see the pendulum begin moving in the other direction.

this post reminds me of Richard Cohen (Wash Post) piece

pretty much

not suggesting its the basis for ur post

only that it is a really good one - well said - non partisan - is what it is

a real dilemma for people

i prefer the "devil we know" ;)

Obama: Would back limited offshore drilling
Democrat shifts position on issue following attacks by rival McCain

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25974097/

this explains Obama's political expedience this time . . .
he couldn't take the heat from McCain.
I guess he can change when he's wrong . . . .
he just can admit he's done it.

the latest flip seems to be Obama's position on draining the strategic reserves
in order to pander to the public for votes
Obama certainly isn't thinking about the purpose of having those reserves.
