I'm so out of touch with gay fashion/culture/whatever. This is the first time I've ever heard that Puma and homos have a relationship.

I am the same way. Out of the loop I guess. I do not often wear sneakers unless I am at the gym, in which case I use extra wide New Balance for my feet are 6 EEEEEE in width.

>>>Which is why I thought a Style and Design forum would have been perfect at JUB!

In which case I wouldn't have seen this thread, and learned this factoid about Pumas.

Point against S&D. :)

Puma = gay ...

Why ? how ? where ? when ? I mean how can you say this brand is popular among gays...

anyways I'm wearing Levi's & Nike

Eh, I love Pumas and Nike and New Balance and Sperrys and Rainbows.

[I'm not going to attempt to justify how many conjunctions were used in that sentence]

I associate Pumas with rappers or Korn fans, not gays. :?

"Pumas" was a HOT shoe/clothing brand in the 80's. The brand is still around and to my knowledge the brand was never linked to the Gay community...At least not where I live..

Interesting to hear that Prodominately Gay Black men sport them in Philly..In my town the Popular shoe stores don't carry the brand because the "Consumer" constantly change with the times..

There's a couple of Black owned retail stores downtown in my area that carry old-brand name shoes and apparel..They might carry Puma..They carry all those LOUD-ass Suit colors so they probably carry some Damn "Pumas"...LOL...

The Black Community made the "Puma" brand popular in the 80's...

Hell, I thought it was Skechers.

Hell, I thought it was Skechers.

LMAO! I got my first pair of Skechers about 8 years ago on clearance and with a friend's discount. Still have them and they still look like new, regardless of how much I wore them. Super comfortable too, so I just recently bought black and tan pairs of their boots because I figured they'll wear just as well as the original pair.

I wasn't aware they were "gay"

As for Puma, I wasn't aware of that, either. Plus, I haven't owned a pair of sneakers in probably 20 years....

the breeders wear puma just as much as the gays

I don't have any of their shoes right now, but I used to have puma cleats when i ran track in high school.

I do have a black puma wind breaker with just a little white cat on the chest and a couple pairs of underwear that are pretty comfortable

The Puma outlet and stores around my area are always filled with Asian-Americans, Europeans and Middle Easterners (mostly Asian-Americans). I can see how they'd be associated with gays though.

I think that they are stylish, but very uncomfortable. I've never worn clothes and shoes that were so uncomfortable.

i think it must be a north eastern thing...sketchers here

I don't wear brand sneakers anymore. If I had to, it would be skater brands like DVS, Es, Etnies, DC, Globe, Emerica, Vision, Osiris...

Are there any upcoming brands which might displace Puma?!

Bape :lol2:

Haha well I own a pair of pumas, but they're orange and brown, so they don't match much of my clothing lol.

But i don't think they're gay shoes. I wear K-Swiss most of the time. Adidas to work.

I haven't seen a pair of puma shoes since I was about 10, I didn't know they even still existed. Though if they were the "gay" shoe of choice it'd be a bit trippy for me seeing I associate Puma with my childhood. And football.
