Hi guys,

I'm wanting to download short excerpts of music to my mobile (cell) phone to use as ring tones. someone recommended Roxio Creator to me but in searching the web, I'm not sure if this is the software that I want. Is this the best software or is there something else that I could use?

roxio is a good company. they don't make junk. TOAST is a GREAT product so CREATOR might work but go to the website and check it out see if it has the capabilities you need.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Downloading "short excerpts of music to my mobile (cell) phone to use as ring tones" doesn't sound like you want Roxio. IMO Roxio, like Nero, is bloatware.

What phone do you have? Do you use a memory card in the phone? How do you connect to it? If you have easy access to the phone to put an mp3 ringtone on it then all you need is a really basic (and free) app to cut the mp3 and then just copy it to your phone.

More info...pls.

Thanks noelie. I have a Nokia N95 (probably about to have to downgrade back to a 6120. I've borrowed the N95 from work) Yes, the phone has a memory card but am not using it at present. Currently I've just been connecting the phone to my PC and syncing it with Media Player.

I have a Sony Ericsson w810i and I just tell the phone settings to use an mp3 off the card as the ringtone (Dr. Who theme).

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the settings on the Nokia but from what I've read on the web it seems that it can use mp3s as ringtones. Have you tried the Nokia PC Suite?

:D

Funnily enough, I did, but my PC shat itself!! We ended up having to remove the program and my friend ran various "fixes" to get it working again! Sorry, I'm a Luddite but appreciate all your advise. I have a contact who's told me he's happy to help out and try some different programs.

Thanks to all.
