Is Sean Cody Worth Paying For?

I'm thinking about subscribing to Sean Cody and I was wondering if anyone had an account and what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth it or will I be wasting my money?

It's worth it if you are a new subscriber. There are more than 2000 videos you can download/watch and there are some real gems. Of course, finding them will be another matter but you just have to go with whichever guys you like the look of.

But it's a bugger to cancel. You have to either ring them or webchat them and they will throw offers at you to stay. It took about 20 minutes before they gave up and cancelled my account. I was glad to be rid, to be honest and would never join any site now that doesn't have a simple, immediate, online cancellation button.

Haven't been too crazy about the recent stuff. They seem to be in a downward spiral since they were acquired by MindGeek a year ago. Apparently most of the old crew was pink-slipped.

Right now, I prefer Corbin Fisher's stuff. Neither site gets high-marks for diversity, if you're looking for more than gay4pay bromosexuals.

It depends on what you're looking for and what you like in general. Sean Cody happens to be one of the most popular gay sites. I would say around top 5 or top 10, but don't quote me. You can try to google 'most popular gay porn sites'. Sean Cody has that mainstream appeal for many years since the producers maintain guys that are in shape, have muscular physiques or have athletic ability.

I subscribed to the site in the past years ago and tried that $1.00 trial the site has been offering for months. After the trial was over, I waited for two weeks to extend for another month back in December (just three months ago). After a month, I won't renew it.

I'm a fan of solo videos or I'm at the point in my life where I am more interested in solo videos. Since the site has changed management last year and the site decided to rack up more sex actions, I don't find the site exciting in general (for me). I agree that Calvin, Jarek, Jamie (above), Jessie, and some guys that appeared in the past made Sean Cody more interesting, BUT I've subscribed to other sites that are more exciting for what I'm looking for.

There are so many guys that have appeared on the site for more than 10 years, but there are only a few solo videos that I like. Most others are 'forgettable' to me. If you want to know my reasons, you can PM me.

As far as action scenes, I've seen good ones, but I found few other sites more appealing.

That's my take on the site. What would make me resubscribed? If they make better solo videos, I might. Lots of them are predictable and boring. Don't quote me. You may have better view than I do.

Since there are so many scenes, a new subscriber with $1 trial can only go through a few. I was able to skip sooo many when I had that trial and one month membership. ****** blog was very helpful in helping me choose whether or not I should watch this or that. The blog has screenshots of the scenes, but it hasn't posted the recent updates in few months.

As far as cancellation, I had to call. If you call during peak hours, you might have to wait minutes. When they want to offer Men, Bromo, I told the guy that I'm not interested.

I agree that the newer stuff is not really that great. Last night I spent a few hours skimming through 1700-1900 and found that the hottest guys were one-hit wonders. Sean Cody invented the highly successful 'straight guys' angle. At first, back in the early oughties, it featured very straight-acting jock-types jerking-off. 'Sean' himself would interview them in what looked like some motel, with sheets across the windows. This element of amateurishness contributed to the site's allure (sheets across the windows actually reminded me of some of the shady sex-parties I'd been to in college). The interviews were total fluff. They'd talk about their sexual encounters, sports they played, etc. It was more a chance to hear their voices, especially ones with drawls. Then strip and rub one out.

The genius of Sean Cody was showing guys you always wanted to see naked, but never could (unless you went out for football). Sean appreciated the high degree of gay jock-lust there was out there, how we eroticize the 'strange other' in much the same way straights eroticize members of the opposite sex that wasn't being satisfied by conventional gay porn. While there have always been plenty of 'jocks' in gay porn, producers didn't quite get it. It always seemed contrived, some queen's fantasy about what went on in sports locker-rooms, barracks etc (i.e. places he'd never been).

Slowly Sean Cody began introducing 'action' into scenes, in the form of Sean himself, a clean-cut, 'preppie' guy in his early 30s still in possession of his boyish good looks, performing oral on them. Then there was this model 'Zack', an homely-handsome swimmer with a 3rd leg (he also did some stuff for Fratmen in their inceptional period), who was willing to try 'toys', blindfolds. Then in one scene where Sean was servicing four guys, Zack decided to 'expand his sexual horizons' (or so the write-up said) and went down on the guy standing next to him. Shortly after that, they started to introduce full-on fucking, including some six-somes on a king-sized bed (which are still some of the hottest scenes I know of!), only the guys never kissed! That would be too 'gay'.

There were rumors that 'Zack' was Sean Cody's real-life partner, but they've never been confirmed.

It was about this time, the 2004 period, that you start seeing the copy-cat sites like Corbin Fisher, Broke Straight Boys, College Dudes, etc. Corbin Fisher upped the ante by actually having his 'straight studs' kiss. He claims he was never trying to ape Sean Cody but rather make an American Bel Ami

One reason why Sean Cody's product has been more consistently better than the competitions' over the years is simply that they pay more. I think they are (or were, prior to the MindGeek take-over) the highest paying site. Conversely Corbin Fisher's hook is the promise of truly steady work. Several models have put themselves through college while working for CF. Historically SC didn't reuse models to anywhere near the same degree as CF. The 'cap' even for the most popular models like Kurt, Harley, Jamie, Calvin, Jarek, etc. was in the low 20s. But that seems to be changing under the new regime. Still, SC's Curtis has done 30+ over an eight-year period while CF's Kellan has done nearly twice as many in a third the time.

I've always said that Cody solos are much better than the competitions'. For the past several years they've been more free form as opposed to the boring 'sexual history' solos on just about every other site.
