Is the phrase "you look younger than 18" an insult?

Is the term "you look younger than 18" an insult? Usually I'll go on websites, and hit guys up. And they'll usually say something like.. "Thanks, you're cute. But you look younger than 18, you look 12-15". Should that be taken as insult a compliment, insult, or something as a disadvantage?

It's cool to look older when you are still in your teen years.

When you are 25 and people think you look younger... now that's a different story

I actually think of it as a compliment. I am 21 now but I remembered when I was 18, there were few times I went shopping with friends the shop receptionist was shocked when my IC me identify as 18.

back to the topic, that's a compliment though. would much rather look 16 in the face than 30. there's nothing worse than being told "you look about your age", "you look like you're 28" or not being carded because you look old even after you shave.

They can be adorable at 16, but not as handsome or sexy as 30 year olds.

Well that's my taste anyway.

In some cases, yes. However, in some other cases a lot of the guys were still eager to talk to me. They were just a little more cautious, and worried.
