Attention "Is the rectum a cinema?"

No doubt certain fans will find a resonance there.

I know I've seen some stupid half assed exploitation film with something akin to an ass cam but I can't remember what it is and it's probably so stupid and obscure it's not worth mentioning.

Gaspar Noe's ambitious but muddled "Enter the Void" is shot completely from the POV of the main character who dies twenty minutes in and spends the rest of the film floating around the city in spirit form, observing the consequences of his death. In the end he enters his sister's body as she's having intercourse and travels to her vagina. We see her friend's penis thrusting into her and ejaculating, and we ride the wave of semen to her fallopian tubes where he enters that one lucky sperm and is reborn as her son.

That is so Gaspar Noé ...

I hope at least some of y'all are reading the essay, which isn't too long.

I like the recounting of the old Raquel Welch movie at the beginning, but if you want to go straight to the rectum movie bit, skip to the ninth paragraph.

It was a good article. "Fantastic Voyage" was my favorite movie as a kid.

Great article. I'm saving it but having trouble deciding in which folder it belongs.

And such elegant writing:
The most cinematically inventive of those laparoscopic operations broadcast on the internet are, surprisingly enough, proctologic in nature, if not in spirit. Perhaps this preponderance of films to watch anuses by is largely due to the design of the camera itself, which travels well through the body’s more familiar entrances and exits

I mean I have watched surgery on youtube I wanted to see what my mkms eye surgery was going to be like, I also was staring down the barrel or a surgery myself from Nov 21 to June 2022. It didnt bother me too much.

At least some of that was tongue-in-cheek, I think.

The thing is, the answer to the question is no. In this case, at least, the rectum is not a cinema. The rectum is a film set.
By tongue in cheek...could you be more specific?
