Is the term "sugar in his tank" offensive?

It's a colloquialism used mostly in the African American community. I'm not quite sure of the origin, but it means your gay. I haven't heard it in years. Not really offensive, though.

I haven't heard this term specifically but I have heard some like it. I agree with reone. While the meaning isn't necessarily negative, the intention behind the comment almost always is. I wouldn't appreciate being described this way.

A

As | remember the saying, it was sugar in the gas tank. That was a
very nasty thing to do to someones car. shea

they used to say he's light in the loafers too, where that came from i dunno....

Sugar in his tank
Swish in his step
Zesty
Light in the loafers
Broke in the wrist

All equally delightful

I'm sure some people would find it offensive I guess.

Well it kinda hints that your engines don't work right because you're gay.

Can't believe it took 22 comments for someone to point this out.

Putting sugar in someone's gas tank destroys the engine, right? So "sugar in his tank" means you're not working correctly.

So yeah, I'd say it's offensive.

I thought it was referring to a nice butt. First time I've heard that term. But I think most people if they heard that term in public would think the commenter was talking about the guy's butt.

I've never, EVER heard anyone talk like that around here, but then again Canada has a totally different set of slang.
