  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is the world going to end in 2012?

Yes.

So get your t shirts now or you won't have long to wear them.

@ Tadaa: I'm going to start watching those video you posted about Planet X now. But I've just looked it up a bit it's supposed to be an enormous object in space that is en route to Earth, and so far it's supposed to be striking or just barely missing the Earth in December 2012, in a nutshell??

It would change our weather a lot that's for sure, but I think life would still survive.

I don't know about that. The entire top layers of the Earth swirling to a different position in a limited amount of time screams catastrophe to me. There would be worldwide earthquakes for sure, which would lead to other disasters for sure like tsunamis.

Yes.

So get your t shirts now or you won't have long to wear them.

Damn it all, up until now I thought the most signifigant pole switch was when I moved mine from the oral cavity to the anal cavity....my bad:badgrin: :( #-o

Man I hope not, December 21,2012 is the day before my birthday.
Bummer. shea :grrr:

I understand the argument and fears/annoyances coming from both sides (which are, for clarification, those who argue that "the final day" is happening and those who argue that it's not), and this leaves me undecided in the middle since both sides are equally plausible in my eyes. My only word of advice is, for those who listen to major science and/or news programs such as the History or the Discovery Channel, keep in mind that these programs are successful businesses trying to make money like any other businesses. Sometimes, they merely use information that may cause the most attention in viewing, no matter how false. And, amoung their motivations and incentives may include information that causes fright and/or fear in people because that's what's going to get them paid: your stimulated emotions are what's going to keep you watching their shows.

(I personally believe that, unless Discovery was the first to make the widely-heard announcment, had the whole 2012 conversation trend not been established, such a topic wouldn't be on Discovery. )

I'm not saying to not trust Discovery or History altogether. I believe a lot of what they say maybe generally true. I also understand when people feel they need a news source to know the events happening in the city, in the country, and/or in the world; they would feel more fear of the unknown otherwize. I'm simply suggesting, take these programs a bit more lightly and anticipate the chance of some intentional falsehood because these self-claimed news sources are, after all, people trying to make money, and even they don't always have the "truth". I saya this regardless of if such source presents you with good news or bad news.

Um, I'd like to point out that if the Mayan people were so good at predicting the future, how the fuck did they miss the little bit where they were fucking p0wned by the Spanish?

If I had a history text book, I would look that up right now to see if that's true, because I thought from reading elsewhere at one time that Mayans did know and predicted their falling at the time. Do you have a credible source I can look at that shows that Mayans were unaware of their omen?

erm er uh Shea, it it happens and you are

called before the Presence...

I seriously doubt you will note

a dearth of birthday presents

so to speak.

is the world going to end in 2012 -

FUCK NO -- and quit asking.....

DAMMIT ! GO TO YOUR ROOM -- all of yous !!

I couldn't care less. If it doesn't I'll go about my merry way and if it does I won't be around to care.

^^ That too is kind of my attitude towards 2012. I use to have terraultimaphobia, but having adjust to that mindset, it's greatly diminished.

Anyone looked into this? It's pretty fascinating and there and lots of dots that connect.

History Channel is tackling this with The Nostradamus Effect. It's informative and great to watch.

I'm don't know. I'd rather the world not end. I like Earth.

What say you?

I say "NO!"

The world will not end.

The sun will set and rise again the next morning.

The world will continue turning (except for "As The World Turns" which will be concluded in September 2010)

I will teach another year of school.

And we will all still be here, Jubbing away...

So sayeth Sir Ron! :D

December 23, 2012: Anti-Critical-Thinking Day.

December 24, 2012: Purple Kool-Aid Day. For those who celebrated Anti-Critical-Thinking Day, just in case.

It's been said the end of the world isn't happening but something about a new enlightenment or something.

I've also heard that it doesn't necessarily have to be the end of the world, but that it could be a new beginning of something, or some major change in the world.

I believe there is also talk that extra-terrestrial (alien) life will appear on the in December 2012... not sure, haven't looked into it at all. I was talking about 2012 with two of my cousins last month (we were all watching the Nostradamus Effect, lol) and one of them said she heard someplace that aliens will come during Dec. 2012.

I don't know, I just feel like something is going to happen. Maybe it's the sci-fi-ish fanatic in me, but I don't really think it is.

I personally don't believe in it.

But hey; I'm supposed to be dead anyway. So if it does happen, I want an instant death please. <3. I don't want to watch the world end. XP.

But, I am doubting it and on the 22nd I'd be laughing.

But, I'll be here teasing the dog and playing games Oo.

Also didn't a Mayan king plan a celebration of his birthday sometime in 3000 and something?

All I can say is, no one can be sure.
But the world didn't end in year 2000 now did it? And there are many many other years where they believed the word would end.

Think about how badly all the Christians would have freaked out in year 6*6.

As for the end of the cycle, who knows, maybe a pebble landed in the wrong place hundreds of years ago, and made the calendar maker crack his skull. Or maybe they just got LAZY since they kinda left, and obviously, the calendar would have to end on SOME year.

Life is too miserable for it end like that in my opinion.
