  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is there a brick-and-mortar place in the world where everybody knows your name?

I never watched the credits including Bebe, and I was not a faithful follower (what kind of person swallows seasons of series for years and years), but sure those seasons with those characters were the best...

yes theres a few places and a bar i go too often.

Everybody?

Not likely. Employee turnover is huge these days.

And of course, the larger places have a lot of employees coming and going all the time. Particularly those that don't pay well.

/\ I'm sure there is also variety. Always new places to go/try.

Pain is a twisting, terrible thing
Controlling My though5s, possessing My dreams
Yet strength from asunder I draw from the pain
Finding Myself, and learning My name

Demons don't divulge names lest they be summoned
Let Me tell You about the time I almost died...
Rumplestiltskin also not big on nondeplume disclosure
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Bloody Mary
Anyway cogito in the final summation just adds up to Me so I let it slide rather than go after solipistic syllogism stating I am the I AM as far as I can prove and instead choose namaste as the preferable point state of existence and besides noones ever been so heniously rotten as to warrant bring stuck in solitary with Me for any appreciable period of time And no Eternity is a trap A story without end is no story at all and this too shall pass Please try and be more careful with the future

Anonymity is one of the advantages of living in a big city.
Although even when we lived in downtown Toronto, we had many favourite haunts where we were on a first name basis with people.

I never watched the credits

I generally don't bother watching credits. Credits are why the DVD Player Gods invented the skip button.
Although I will make an exception when the credits involve a bunch of shirtless guys:

As for the question... As far as restaurants/coffee shops/bars/other Cheers equivalents are concerned: No, but I seldom go near such places. I can count on one hand (and have fingers left over) the number of times I've eaten out in the last four years.

But I think the regullars at the library and the grocery store at least recognize me, even if they don't know my name.

In my hometown, it was so. My family has lived there for more than 150 years.

I gave that up to make my way in the world. Even at work, many I speak to, share food with, have no idea who I am, but I work surrounded by accountants and engineers.

I would say the house where I grew up except that my mother, despite choosing it for me, sometimes forgot it and called me by my dad's or her little brother's name depending whether she was pissed at me or found me foolish.

This made me laugh. Love it.

I bet everyone knows Vannie by name at his local cabbage market!

I lived--briefly, thank God!--in a small town that had family history. I bet everyone in that town A) knew who I was, and B) had stories, right or wrong, based on family history and current gossip.

The town had rumors flying about after a family death, which were as far removed from reality as you could get.
