i hate to admit but i did weep when she does sing the chorus
When the sun shines, we’ll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be a friend
Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)
OMG you're right, that's pretty powerful stuff Voodoo, I'd never really heard a song by Rihanna before, thanx.
Here's one of my favorite songs of all time. A Cold Day In Hell
Said that you'd love me forever
Love me til the rivers ran dry
Said that we'd be together
Til the stars fell from the sky
We'd love each other til hell freezes over
And birds no longer fly
If I'm ever gonna wish on a falling star
Tonight would be a good time to try
{and here's where the tears start welling up}
I guess we're gonna run outta water
I can't find a bird in the sky
What never should happen is happening now
I just heard you tell me goodbye
Don't need to see anybody/feeling too empty inside
The worlds going crazy/I'm feeling shakey
I just need a good place to hide
I should have known better when you said you'd never
Hurt me or tell me a lie
Guess I'd better break out my old winter coat
It's sure getting cold for July
I guess we're gonna run outta water
I can't find a bird in the sky
What never should happen is happening now
I just heard you tell me goodbye
{and I'm crying my eyes out at this point}
If you are watching wherever you are
At the last of the stars as the fell
It's a cold day A cold day in hell!
a friend gave me Anthony and the Johnsons music several month ago. That particular song made me shiver. It's so beautiful and sad. Spoke my mind when I first heard it.
I have yet to cry from a song, but there have been times I've come pretty close.
Here's the few:
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence by Sakamoto Ryuichi:
To me this piece is just very emotional, and I love how Sakamoto can bland both eastern and western influences.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole:
To me this song doesn't really get emotional until he begins to sing What a Wonderful World, it makes me think about my Grandfather. That was his favorite song. This is an incredibly beautiful song, and I love his voice.
Before his passing in 2001 Joey Ramone recorded a poignant cover of What A Wonderful World. It may be the quintessential sad song of our time. He knew his days were numbered so the tiny things meant the world.
I'm starting to get weepy thinking about it.
Sometimes the video for a song can evoke a certain sadness beyond the song's depth, and here's a perfect example. The old guy never wakes up and his dog has to go on without him.

Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
Ocean storm, bayberry moon.
I have got to leave to find my way.
Watch the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes.
Nothing is going my way.
The ocean is the river’s goal,
A need to leave the water knows
We’re closer now than light years to go.
I have got to find the river,
Bergamot and vetiver
Run through my head and fall away.
Leave the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes.
