Is there a song that can make you cry?

My Twin by Katatonia

I think of love, but let it pass
It feels like fire, but it won't last

You used to be like my twin
And all it's been
Was it all for nothing?

Bob Seger's Ship Of Fools breaks my heart too. It's about having to leave friends behind when you pursue your dreams.

and:
Whale And Wasp from Alice In Chains

I was NEVER a fan of Barry Manilow music (except for a song called "All The Time"), but I recently heard a different version of his hit "Tryin' To Get The Feeling" that I fell in love with. It was done by Karen Carpenter, before the Manilow version was recorded. The song has a much different feel to it, with different lyrics and a more pessimistic theme. I wish I could post it here, but I am an idiot with computers.

Is this the one?

Yeah, that's the Manilow version. But I can't find the Carpenters version, which I like much better.

Yes, Whitney's version of that song is amazing - I never liked Dolly's version of it.

However, this song by Dolly is very moving and makes me cry every time I hear it:

Amazing, indeed. ..|

I do like Dolly's version, but of course Whitney's version is in a whole 'nother category/realm. The unique acapella opening and the gorgeous and delicate but strong and powerful, complex vocals all throughout the song. When Whitney's version of the song comes on, no matter what part of the world, people stop in their tracks and behold the beauty of it. No question why it became the biggest selling and most-successful song of all time. It just doesn't get any better.

here's a brilliant piece from The Fray
How To Save A Life

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend somewhere along
In the bitterness and
I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known
How to save a life

It won't make me actually weep, but NYC by Interpol comes pretty damn close.

if you wanna leave, take good care
I hope you make a lot of nice friends out there

but remember there's a lot of bad and beware....
