"One of Us" when I was watching Glee last week, not sure exactly why but it did.

It's wonderful to see some new avatars grace our humble thread, welcome gentlemen. I hope to hear from you again soon. And welcome back Molotov, I love that song by No Doubt -- however uncoolly incorrect that may be hehehe...

Here's a beautiful piece I've chosen for this morning. It's called E-Bow The Letter by REM with Patti Smith. The lyric is taken partially from a letter Michael Stipe wrote to his close friend River Phoenix. Supposedly the letter never arrived in time for the actor to read it.
He died in the early morning hours of October 31th, 1993.

Smith's voice has a haunting beauty only years of experience can bring to the table, I think you'll agree.

Behind These Hazel Eyes. She starts signing, "Swallow me then spit me out...For hating you I blame myself. Seeing you, it kills me now. No, I don't cry on the outside anymore." and it gets me everytime.

I love her and this song to death.

Not a huge country fan, but this song does make me tear up;
Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me"

Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end there's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

Big Log by Robert Plant ...hauntingly beautiful.

My love is in league with the freeway.
Its passion will ride
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otp4N38ABC0"]as the cities fly by and the tail lights[/ame]
dissolve in the coming of night
And the questions in thousands take flight.

My love is the miles and the waiting. The eyes that just stare and a glance at the clock. And the secret that burns and the pain that won't stop.

And it's fuel is the years...

My love is exceeding the limit. Red-eyed and fevered with the hum of the miles. Distance and longing my thoughts do collide.

Should I rest for a while on the side?

Your love is cradled in knowing eyes in the mirror still expecting they'll come.
Sensing too well when the journey is done there is no turning back.
No...there is no turning back on the road.

My love is in league with the freeway -- and the coming of night time.

Aww I love When She Loved Me. But if i'm really listening to it and doing nothing else it's Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. I think it's it's special to a LOT of people.

For dynk

Who posted the song in my little garden of fleurs de mal, 'Think of a song about masturbating,'
perhaps by mistake, or more likely because of his great, good humor, but here it is, where it certainly also belongs

Kanye West's Hey Mama: the only song i know of that makes me tear up every time i hear it probably because i can relate to what he's saying

It's not a song with lyrics but it'll always be connected to the moviefeelings it represented.
Goosebumps every time without fail and when I feel emotional this can make me cry very easily.

Welcome Ormazd, and yes, there are plenty of instrumental pieces that can weigh heavy on the heart. I'll post a couple of my very favorites.

Whale and Wasp by Alice In Chains from the Jar of Flies album is incredibly moving. Jerry Cantrell is an amazing musician.

and
Bron-yr-aur by Led Zeppelin from the Physical Graffiti album. Again words can't express the sheer beauty.

This song – or band, really – makes me cry...

But tears of joy cos they're just so good!
