Is there a song that can make you cry?

*a tear*
Thank you sir, that's such a very thoughtful piece, and I appreciate the gesture, my friend.
And I do want to come back down to earth and be with you guys once again. I want to laugh again too, Lefty. I'm trying to get there, and you don't know how much it helps knowing you haven't lost hope for me.

Lighthouse in a storm.

Though the moment passed me by I still can't look away. Maybe all the dreams I kept are fuel for a blaze? And the notes I never meant to send can help me past today?

Burns heal but the memories of my flames never char. You never really lose that fear too, because the past is never far. I think I lost myself somewhere out here, trying to reach for Mars. Sometimes it makes me sad to know my life is so riddled up with scars. I still feel eighteen and strong like wind, but truth is, it all blew by so quickly as I fought for one last sin. Still I just want to rise above the din; if only one last time. Just one more win.

So when these raggedy songs keeps popping up here, sad as they may chime, they are like a moment captured -- moments froze in time. And for one brief instant I think of them as mine. Though sadly I can't share with you the way I hold 'em dear, but maybe for a moment they'll lay bare? And in that precious moment you might care?

Oh Lefty, I think about him all the time when I don't need to paint. Sometimes, I hope it's lonely where he is so he might drift back to me. But isn't that the most selfish thing? All the sadness and sorrow, who'd have thought tomorrow would be so strange?

I'm realistic. I know he wasn't "the one." I know he's gone. I know it all had to have an end, yet here I am still writing silly notes I'll never send.

I'm gonna talk serious...not delerious.

There is an old saying about catching and letting it go

Know that One.

Well, if it does not come back...you did have it.

Owning does not mean having

Sharing is having

Letting go is learning

more simply

Like the hot stove you have to touch

And if it makes a burn....you learn.

Thank you Lefty... but he left no time to regret
kept his dick wet with his same ol'safe bet
Me, and my head high and my tears dry
It all went out my guy
You went back to what you know
So far removed from what we went through
And...

we only said goodbye with words....

Dude ^I have a big juicy AP for that.

"Do you Know Where You Going To?" Theme song from the movie Mahogany was played on my dad's funeral.....i feel sad everytime i hear this song...

I just recently discovered this gem from Credence Clearwater Revival (funny name/terrific songs hehe--like Schlosky's Deli)...John Fogerty is a brilliant songwriter and they had a butt load of great songs and there's probably a lot more I have never heard yet...

Tzu,
I was just stalking you to see where you spend your time, and found this thread that I didn't know about.

Your first post - Mr. Bojangles - Neil Diamon??
I'm used to Mr. Sammy Davis Junior's performing it from back in the day.

I see your copy is No Longer Available do to poster account being closed. . . .

And, yeah, it's a tear jerker.

Now, Mr. Chapin's "Cat's Cradle", that's another tear inducing ballad.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUwjNBjqR-c[/ame]

he walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to dance
he looked kinda nice so I thought I might take a chance
and when we danced he held me tight
and when he walked me home that night
all the stars were shining bright and then he kissed me
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqPHb2aVBfM&feature=related"]**sigh** I really love this one too[/ame]

it reminds me of Jr High...only I couldn't dance with the one I loved so we slipped outside to smoke and he held me under the stars while we slow danced in the shadows behind the gym. It was a Soul Asylum song.
Now I'm really gonna cry. I lost Kevin in a car accident right after we started our sophomore year of high school. We were supposed to grow old together, he and I and we were gonna go to the University of Hawaii together...... but I'm left here to go on alone/I still miss him with all my heart.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2khQJGdnFE&feature=related"]tonight the light of love is in your eyes[/ame]

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwvclgPgB18"]wow.......I'm behind the gym with Kev again[/ame]

Only ONE song I can think of at the moment gets me emotional EVERYTIME:

aaaaw I love both those songs, thank you Dawny, this causes my heart to soar like an eagle.
I was thinking maybe I could lure Mr Lefty to our little watering hole this morning. He sometimes finds me here moping and feeling sorry for myself so he kicks my tires and reminds me I still have a lot of miles to go hehehe does that make any semse? Anyways, I'M TICKLED to see you posting here.

And to answer Telstra's question, pretty much most of the tunes here touch my heart in a special way, and maybe I haven't cried to them lately but the heart doesn't need the eyes to shed its tears -- they are hidden away deep inside but they are nevertheless just as salty as the ones that streak your face. OH GOD! I sound like the old dude from Karate Kid now with all this philosophy bullshiht huh? hehehe

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4RjJKxsamQ"]this is a brilliant song from the Scorpions[/ame]

Damn it....I am not the old dude from the Karate kid.

I was Mr. Miyagi's assistant and helped poor Daniel

through many Crisi's..However, the script writers wanted

an ethnic in the the Miyaggi role for p/c.

Tzu, it has been long enough for you to quit sticking the

FID of self sympathy up your arse. Go to YouTube and dial

up a group known as Jarod and the long Road Home. The song

you need to go for is...PRAY FOR YOU. Make it happen.........

Dawnie could listen to it too.

no remarks from either of my boys?

Now, that is almost sad enough to be

a farewell song of its own.

Personally, I like it...I like it a lot.

^_^ Yo, ShihTzu!

Soul Asylum, The Martinis… The Scorpions? You ever think of maybe moving to Austin (for the music) cos, Dude… WTF have you been listening to? A bunch of old, eight-track cassettes?

À Paris, pourtant, Merde…

All, right! Though this entire Website makes me weep sometimes (from boredom, as much as despair, at all the stupid, self-centered posts of a bunch of poncey, pretentious, but only semi-literate, 'Post Whores' – both young and old, BTW – who if they were only a little bit smarter than they actually are, I might add at this point, 'you know who you are,' but since I don't think they are even that smart – or self-aware, certainly – I simply won't bother!), here's one more song (perhaps my last on this thread or site, I care not) that can make me cry…

Not the versions by Adele, or Eric Clapton, or even Robyn Hitchcock… or Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Fucking Perry, Diana Ross or Whitney Houston (however appropriate it might be for them to cover the song – if they had that much sense or taste or singing ability, which these tone-deaf clowns clearly do not, any longer, at least, in the case of the last two)…

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZgBhyU4IvQ&fmt=18"]Not Dark Yet Bob Dylan[/ame]

'Shadows are falling, and I’ve been here all day
It’s too hot to sleep, time is running away
Feel like my soul has turned into steel
I’ve still got the scars that the sun didn’t heal
There’s not even room enough to be anywhere
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there…

'Well, my sense of humanity has gone down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing, there’s been some kind of pain
She wrote me a letter, and she wrote it so kind
She put down in writing what was in her mind
I just don’t see why I should even care
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there…

'Well, I’ve been to London, and I’ve been to gay Paree
I’ve followed the river, and I got to the sea
I’ve been down on the bottom of a world full of lies
I ain’t looking for nothing in anyone’s eyes
Sometimes, my burden seems more than I can bear
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there…

'I was born here, and I’ll die here against my will
I know it looks like I’m moving, but I’m standing still
Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb
I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don’t even hear a murmur of a prayer
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there…'

Lefty,
I can't always listen to music and such when I link it - lots of other things going on, TV, etc. then i have to remeber to go back later.

I didn't realize what the song was - it's a family favorite!
I just played as the house was getting ready, and my 15YO asked who was playing it - she loves this song.

And, yes, it can bring a tear to one's eyes, lol.
