  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is this a dumb idea or a brilliant creation?

How deep are your sinks? If my sink was on top of the dishwasher, the "top" of the sink would be at chest height - too high to get your arms into it to wash anything in the sink.

^My sink is pretty deep. It's sinking, having apparenlty decided that it should do so since it's a sink.

More seriously, I think dimensions vary. But for something like this sink/dishwasher, I'd assume the dimensions would be chosen so the total unit could fit into a particular space and be usable. But the sink might be a minimal depth sink, and the dishwasher wouldn't be full size.

Why doesn’t anyone make a push in sink dishwasher combination? I mean a literal dishwasher that has a built in sink on top. Instead of dropping a sink into a countertop with a basically useless cabinet underneath, and having wasted cabinet space beside the sink with a separate dishwasher.

Can you imagine how well this would work in small kitchens in apartments and New York City condos?

Should I make one and book a trip to Shark Tank?

And for anyone trying to steal this design, this thread is my official claim to the idea.
Why would someone living in a NYC condo care about having a kitchen, unless they care so much about floor space that they can even afford space for a kitchen?

As for small kitchens in apartments...

And dishes...

Are you reducing the dishwasher to one rack in height, but wider? There isn't any suggestion that a useful sink would sit atop a two-rack stacked dishwasher.

And, here in the States, almost no small kitchens in high rise apartments have deep sinks, only standard.
