On the Prowl
Earlier today i was on my way home from work. Now i live in Sydney, Australia and I work in the city. Obviously there are always people walking on the street and lots of people giving flyers and ads and stuff like that. One guy wearing a Red Cross uniform tried to shake my hand, i tried to ignore but i was gonna walk towards his way so I shook his hand coz i dont wanna be rude (he probly wants me to donate blood or something). The way he wants to start a conversation is by asking me "How long have I been here in Australia"?!
I came from a Filipino background but that doesnt mean I came from overseas, I was born here! I found it rude so I replied "Very long time." I'm not really rude to people even if theyre trying to sell me something, I just found it racist.
Do u think he would ask the same question if he was talking to a Caucasian person? Any opinions on this? Do u guys think the same as me or am I just overreacting??
