Is this supposed to make Americans feel proud?

I've gotten that e-mail a few times. It's obnoxious, but I feel that it brings up a single, valid point: The same people who say we have no place "interfering" in other countries are also the first ones to insist we help other countries as well. Frankly, it's a lose-lose situation for Americans and we just have the suckier of the options at the current time.
 
It reads as though Bill O'Reilly might have written that speech.
People worldwide have pride in their country even though no country is a perfect utopia.
Most of us Americans have pride in our country, that doesn't mean we approve of everything some of our leaders say and do. Statistics show more than 70% of us disapprove of the Iraq War and an even smaller amount approve of our Congress.
We are indeed proud that we can freely express our disapproval without fear of imprisonment or murder as in some other countries.
 
eh. it's a load of crap. when i get garbage like the original e-mail, i just delete it.

Perhaps it's old, but I've never seen it before, and, apparently, it's not a joke anymore. People are seriously taking it seriously.
 
The rational part of me wants to smash my computer on the face of whoever wrote that.


The other part of me, the evil one, wishes this would happen, and the United States stops all communication with the outside world. Kind of like North Korea.
 
And he'd get thrown out of office.

I don't think even George Bush is quite that far down the right wing, not to mention undiplomatic.

Then again, I'm pretty certain it was written by someone who looked like this:

Taking that crap seriously? I feel sorry for the rest of the population who have to endure such utter fools.

It smacks of childish foot stamping to me, and it wouldn't be viewed with much respect around the world....

Thats the sad part, that after people read things enough especially with the internet being able to recycle this garbage forever, they begin to believe it.
 
There are people in the US who still feel so angry about the refusal of many countries to join in the debcle in Iraq. Some of these folks can be extremely unpleasant.

There are many, many more Americans who do not suffer from the same perceptions and would like to re-establish friendship and rapport with the rest of the world.
