Had never heard of him before he was killed. Why is he important, and why I should care more him than, say, a child also presumably killed by a gang member? I've seen him identified as a rapper. Rappers get shot and killed with some regularity. Black men get shot and killed with some regularity. (By other blacks it is important to note.) Was he a great rapper? Was he associated with a gang? He must have been highly thought of for all of this press. A great humanitarian?

For me, hip hop always brings to mind that handy, often used fourteen word phrase: "Oh my God can you please just shut the fuck up for five seconds?" Nevertheless, just because you find an art form stupid and annoying doesn't mean it doesn't have value for others.



In my life, I've garnered bits and pieces of wisdom from the most unlikely people.

Much of it's value lies in how it's used.
