I'd say I probably have about an even mix of guy/girl friends... the only person I'd consider "best friend" material is my sister, because we've been the closest for the longest.

and I have way too many straight friends.

^Maybe it's different nowadays, with more people being out, but I've found over the years that, as I've come out, many of my "straight friends" have come out as gays & lesbians.

I have my eye on more than a few, it's very possible haha.

98% of my friends are straight. The 2% is an ex I recently broke up with, and an ex from a few years back who's a wonderful person.

I don't do the "best friend" thing. I think that to an extent it's really high-schoolish cuz the person you call your best friend today may stop answering your calls tomorrow, or may become enemy #1 tomorrow. The "best friends" thing seems most often to be temporary, and an exaggeration implying some deep bond or connection that isn't really there, like telling a guy you love him when you've only known him for 2 months.

I think marley is right. I really don't have a best friend anymore. Chris and I have not been talking. :( He won't ever answer or return my calls. I guess I've just given up on him. Shame, I actually fell in love with him even though he's straight. I do miss him and I think I always will.

Not sure who should i count as a best friend... i mostly have just friends.. but i'm very close to a female colleague and to a male friend.. but definitelly wouldnt count them as "best" friends...

Anyway, about 95% of my friends are gay. The only str8 people i know are family, former schoolmates and collegues ;)

And i'm happy with that situation

Girl, never got along with guys. I'd either get treated like a girl by them or I would start crushing on them. And when I say the treated me like a girl I just mean they didn't include me in 'guy things' what ever the hell that means. They were just really sweet to me and treated me like they treated the girls who hung out with us.

My best friend is male, as are most of my friends(though there is a mix), and almost all of them are straight.

Best mate is a guy. Infact all of my mates are male, with a few mates girlfriends thrown in. The only gay person in that group is my boyfriend.

Most of my friends are guys, either straight or indistinguishable from straight and of course I'm out to them.

I have some female friends, but usually see them socially with other friends and typically when we're doing some sportive activity... in other words, on my male terms and not for "girly" stuff.

Well, I've got plenty of Good friends, and My best friend's a guy. Known him for 7 years.... but I'm only 19 anyway, so that makes a majority of my life.

I Do have another friend I've known even longer, 15 years, but me and him somehow just don't go too well together, well, he IS a fun guy, and good friend, but not Best....

My friends?? For now, I'd say 99% Straight, I only know One Lesbian, but she seems to be Bi, I never personally asked her this question though.

All my friends are guys(dunno about their orientation). I never had a friend who is a girl and honestly I don't understand why some gay men generally have more female friends than heterosexual males. I like the conversations guys have and I don't like the conversations girls have. I would go after girls on websites instead of gays if I liked the companian of girls. So can someone explain me why some gays enjoy being friends with females more than being friends with guys?

Can you say, "Hey! Check out that guy's cute ass!" to your straight friends? ;)
