For anyone who might have been wondering what a red line response might look like....this could be one aspect of the strategy to limit Assad's ability to unleash chemical weapons in the region.

A spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Washington declined on Friday night to comment on the Israeli attack, which was first reported by CNN, saying only in a statement, “Israel is determined to prevent the transfer of chemical weapons or other game-changing weaponry by the Syrian regime to terrorists, specially to Hezbollah in Lebanon.”

Obviously, it makes considerable sense to have Israel demolish the delivery systems capability since they have conducted strikes previously on the pretext of weapons being delivered to Hezbollah.

Avi Issacharoff, an Israeli defense analyst, wrote on the news site Walla.com that it was no surprise that Syria and Hezbollah did not acknowledge the strike.

“Any admission by either Syria or Hezbollah that the Israeli Air Force had attacked a weapons convoy, which would obligate them to retaliate, would only serve to paint them into a corner,” Mr. Issacharoff wrote. “The Syrian Army currently lacks the manpower to face Israel on the ground — and certainly not in the air. A conflagration with the IDF is liable to result in the loss of the only advantage that Assad has over the opposition forces — the Syrian Air Force.”

We share every bit of intelligence and in almost every decision. Troops are being sent to Jordan as well. Spec Ops guys.

So honestly, we are and will be involved in everything over there based on treaties and history of our actions.

Agree---they were bombing weapons that were moving thru Syria to make their way to Israel's enemies. Sorta pre-emptive.

The question is though whether the targets was indeed weaponry on its way to Hezbollah or was it simply the West trimming Assad's military of weaponry that could be used in the civil war....including delivery systems for chemicals.

As well they shouldn't as the US should take the same stance in support of and stand by their allies (allies are people, groups, or nations that have joined in an association for mutual benefit or to achieve some common purpose).

What pray tell would you have Obama do? Ground war? Air Raids? What shall we do?

It is absolutely a requirement that the strongest warring nation on earth warn a cruel regime of doing atrocities to their own people. It is, however, unclear what action to take after.

I do understand two things quite clearly. John McCain had he become President would be on the ground in Syria and potentially Iran. Mitt Romney would likewise be involved in SYria but would be less likely to be involved in Iran because of the diplomatic efforts of the Obama administrations turning a good portion of the world against Iran.

I would still love to hear the clear eyed decisions to be made that such men of character who can sit in their arm chairs, do nothing, and fucking whine about Obama dream about....
