It’s Come to This: UN to Monitor US Election Process

They are coming because the US courts have been in hyperdrive trying to keep up with GOP voter suppression. They want to see if the next president of the USA is legally elected, and it's not Obama that worries them.

You can defame an american civil rights hero, or try to make false equivalency arguments, but the truth is they are coming to watch the GOP activities, and the tea party activities in particular. It's not a debatable. These people don't live through the looking glass, in the tea Party alternative truth reality. They see what is happening or they would have refused to monitor. The process of monitoring voting in forty of the fifty US states will be staggeringly expensive. But the world lives under the Rule of the USA by and large because of the might of our economy, and if someone tries to steal this election.... and we all know that is on the agenda of the GOP because they have said that it is... if it is stolen, it will destroy completely any hopes the USA has with doing business with the rest of the planet.

We will face sanctions, among other things, and an almost certain credit down ranking due to political instability.

Partisans can pretend and live in the tea party looking glass land, but reality is a bitch, and propaganda's power rarely penetrates national borders successfully.

Nonsense. You just made all that fiction up. The UN sent observers in 2004 and 2008.

^ I'm confused

voter fraud IS a felony

not sure what the problem is

i'm confused, too

why would anyone object to a perfectly correct statement about the law and election day?

not sure what the problem is

The UN was requested to monitor the 2004 election but declined to.

There are several books about the 2004 election including "What Happened in Ohio: A Documentary Record of Theft And Fraud in the 2004 Election" by Robert J. Fitrakis, Steven Rosenfeld and Harvey Wasserman.

The whole point of the billboard is intimidation. To pretend otherwise is to show stupidity.

boom? That's intriguing, and chance the next time you send me an untoward comment I will report you. If you have something to say, say it to me in public in the open. Your comment was something about me being embarrassed? Your personal glee there is quite a crowning glory on your, and I use this word delicately..... character.

And we accept that on the word of benvolio and chance?

I know where this is leading but I want you guys to explain this to everyone completely before I give citations on the 2004 and 2008 elections... first where is it that I said that it never happened before, and second, what does that have to do with this instance?

Be careful and speak the truth... with citations. You have my full attention, and I promise you, it's not going to end with either of you looking good.

So please proceed. Do either of you have any proof that I have lied in this thread? if so then shit or get off the baiting pot.

funny title, i'll make it bigger :)

UN to Monitor US Election Process

Rep Cummings writes to True the Vote is quoted in this right wing rag
"On October 4, 2012, I sent you a letter requesting specific documents about the manner in which True the Vote and its affiliated organizations have been challenging the registration of thousands o f legitimate voters across the country based on insufficient, inaccurate, and faulty evidence. I requested these documents by October 14, 2012. To date, you have not produced a single document. Instead, you responded by claiming that my request was based on "an over-simplification of the facts" and "second-hand knowledge or poor staff-researched understanding of our organization's activities." Rather than providing any documents that would shed light on your organization's activities, you attacked election officials in Ohio and Wisconsin for not doing their jobs. Rather than providing any documents that would bring greater transparency to these efforts—a goal you claim you share—you offered only to meet with me to "dispel any misconceptions."

If they've nothing to hide TtV would have complied. Seems all kinds of shady going on with this tea party extension.

I'm glad someone from the outside will observe. If only for psychological value. The lack of restraint and interest in actual politics of the Tea Party is astounding. Can't wait for them to be kicked out of the House... I'm happy to see that Americans in general have become more aware of the inadequacy of this terrorist movement...

Hey handsome!

The observers will be here just for that reason. If this goes to the supreme court, they will either confirm or deny, with credibility any case they see. Having the United nations on your side of an argument in a SCOTUS case would be a hard thing to play reality games with.

CHANCE AND BENVOLIO...

The silence is deafening. What lies have I told and where are they specifically, and how does what I've said in this thread matter to the elections of 2004 and 2008?

You are looking rather unable to prove your specious claim. And so it goes. Once again, a republican with egg on his face for believing something without realizing what he was believing in.

I apologize. This is a sober observation, not meant as an insult. When official GOP members are more clear headed than users here, I feel stating it should not be considered as baiting? Perhaps I'm wrong. Either way, I understand the need to be defensive and give no ground when you feel outnumbered. I've been in that position often enough and it sucks.

I've been in that position here... Being outnumbered by other opinions. If you are not partisan, it's likely that you will agree with the group on some issues and not on others.

Some people do not think partizanship is a bad thing, and in a two party system, I guess this is the way that it was intended to be. One side battling another clear opponent. The coalition thing doesn't really work in our system. You have to agree to caucus with one of the two sides to get committee seats.

Still waiting for that proof of dishonesty. Hell even a sentence to point to without citations would be nice. Looks like it's not going to happen.

The court might not allow any UN people to give their opinion if such challenges occur, especially if they demonstrate the bias you and a few others in this thread have said they would. There's also the issue that foreign election monitors are barred from several states, which would only add further questions to any conclusions they draw. (not to mention the fact that the UN and OSCE have the ability to do exactly nothing with regards to our elections)

Oh, and since they haven't done it yet, here are some cites. In 2004 the UN didn't monitor the elections, but a European group did. This is the same group that will monitor the elections this year. They ARE NOT part of the UN though. (the title should be changed to reflect that)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2004/aug/6/20040806-115723-1192r/?page=all

I couldn't find anything about 2008 that wasn't linked to a grossly biased website, but there were indications that this same group was also here in a small capacity in 2008. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were here in 2000 as well.

hmmm

Nothing ehh?

The OSCE is an ad hoc organization under the United Nations Charter (Chap. VIII), and is concerned with early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation. Its 56 participating states are located in Europe, the former Soviet Union and North America and cover most of the northern hemisphere. It was created during the Cold War era as an East-West forum.

As for whether the courts are interested in the views of the UN, especially the supreme court? That's a rather insular view of the world and it shows that you are ignoring the global economy and it's realities. It worked out so well during the Bush years to thumb our noses at the world... I can't wait to see what would happen if they found tampering by the winner, and the courts did not take action against them.

The title of the thread is just fine. Still waiting for someone to point to a lie.

Reminding people about laws is not intimidation

Feel free to share it - don't allude to something sinister where none exists - you've done it before

Quite sensitive clearly

By all means share your smoking gun

Silly thread

And inaccurate too

I'm still confused. There has been so many threads started by liberals saying that the claim of voter fraud is fake ---- and now this thread.

There's is word that describes this.

I look forward to showing my state driver's license when I vote. However, I will cringe when I have to allow someone with a utility bill vote and worse yet -- someone who just states who he is and yet allow him to vote.

I do hope that the UN people come to the precinct where I will be working. I think they will be amazed at how easy it is to vote. Heck -- I hope they try to vote that day also -- which they could in many states with poor voting laws.

The "Useless Nations" are going to observe us! That's a joke. The UN is a notoriously corrupt organization.

What will they do when Obama loses and refuses to step down, and that's a very real possibility?

I'm a registered Blue Dog Democrat....the party that perfected the art of funny business is the Democratic Party. Machine politics is their forte. Voter fraud can only exist these days according to the luminaries on the left here coming from Republican sources... now they are giddily swooning over the UN coming here, just to keep an eye out for GOP intimidation. Fucking ridiculous.
