This Italian bus driver is a serious threat to Toronto.

As hard as they tried, the Toronto Transit Commission "Red Rocket" [translation: five m.p.h, traffic-paralyzing, 19th-century cutting-edge technocreep, emphasis on creep]

motorpersons, bus drivers and others, sleeping on the job and texting, have been eclipsed by Old World sensibilities: driving by elbow while on two phones at once.

Toronto, I'm sure, will not take this lying down, speaking metaphorically, of course.

It's one thing to be texting/phoning in your own car but to do it while the lives of others are in your hands is inexcusable

Inexcusable, yes, and he deserves any punishment he gets, but at least he was on tracks which steer for him and there's not likely to be a row of cars in front of him, unlike this bus driver:

Italy was one of the first countries to outlaw cell phone use while driving. I expect this driver will probably get fined for the traffic offense in addition to losing his job.

That said, it is fairly common to see Italians talking on two cell phones at the same time.

I think he should invest in some handsfree technology.

We have been having so many issues with the TTC lately. It's only a matter of time before they get privatized. and incidents like this that keep accumulating are only pushing them closer and closer to that.

Only a few months ago the TTC was urging the people NOT to take pictures of their drivers doing these things because they knew it was only hurting them more and more. And with our new mayor already pushing for privatization of garbage collection the TTC isn't far behind.

I know, eh? How rich was that. "Duh, we know we are putting your lives in danger every day, but, um, can you not film us doing it? It makes us look bad."

Not only that but charging us incredible rates and giving us lousy, unsafe service to boot all while demanding MORE.

Hands free devices are no less dangerous because it is the distraction of speaking to someone who is not visible which is the problem.
