  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

It'll Be Lonely This Christmas.

My partner thinks it would be a scream to patch you in for Christmas.

You could tell everyone the story about why you really hate Canada.

I want to get in on that Zoom call! I'm sure that story has grown over the years to be more interesting each year.

I did a home alone night by myself a couple weeks ago ordered in a small cheese pizza and a couple cans of Pepsi!

That's kinda my hope for Christmas since I most likely won't be having turkey and all the fixings. My favorite is Pizza Hut thin crust Pepperoni Lovers and add beef. The only other chain pizza joint we have (Gambinos) won't be open and I'm not so sure Pizza Hut will be.

Since I have been dieting for a couple of years, I haven't had my FILL of pizza during my diet journey.

So it looks like i'm gonna be on my own this Christmas, i did have plans with two friends to have them round, but illness and work have fucked that up.

It's not worth the bother doing the turkey and all the trimmings, i have thought of just getting steak and chips out of the chinkies but it's hardly christmassy, so this thread goes out to all you other guys who'll be spending the day alone, What will you be cooking yourself, something traditional, just a ready meal, perhaps meals on wheels will be visiting, do you have any suggestions for me (no veggie/vegan crap) ?

Cormac,
I hope you are able to spend the time doing something that will take your mind off of your last Christmas memory.

Living here in a small town there probably won't be any food places or deli's open on Christmas...except MAYBE a couple of convenience stores (gas and snack stores) will have their kitchens running for sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, etc). If I don't find a decent pizza place available for take-out, I'll probably bake a turkey breast that I have already purchased. Then I'll pull some desert out of the freezer to bake such as a pie or fudge brownies.

About every other year I have family in town for Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is the year no one will be back in town. I don't really mind. It's great spending a few hours together for one day...but it's always a 2 or 3 day event during family holiday events due to the travel distance involved.

May I suggest making yourself a bread pudding for dessert? It really doesn't matter what dinner is, if you get to finish with a comfort food like bread pudding. It's somewhat Christmassy, too.

Watch some cheer on the Telly. It still warms the heart.

The first Christmas I had on my own was awesome! It was such a relief to do what I wanted to do! I had Hot Dogs for breakfast, beans on toast for lunch and a pizza for tea. All accompanied by lager, wine, and liquers!

Made homemade eggnog used Brandy came out very nice and extremely light! It was nice and quiet the morose uncle was his usual morose self but some Baileys in my morning coffees made him more palatable! Cormac Hope you had an enjoyable relaxing day! Happy Boxing Day!

I had a very enjoyable day, fry up for breakie and a tuna sub for my tea.

Casablanca and Mary Poppins 2 filled in the rest of the day.

I hope you all had a good time.

I hope that it was a pleasant Christmas for all who were spending it without family members or friends.

It was wonderful, though exhausting to have two little boys in the house, but it continued a beloved family tradition for all of us and we somehow survived.

Fatter, definitely fatter.
