Thanks everyone...and yes, my mother was the first person I ever told. That same day I got up the courage to tell my dad. He reacted in a similar way...he told me that he'd love and support me no matter what...and that he wants me to be happy more than anything else.
It's been such a relief to come out to them. To this day they are the only two people who know...and they've known for a few months. Hopefully I'll get up the courage to tell my friends someday.
Well, it's gone well so far, and no matter what happens, you'll always have your family. I find friends to be the best about it, because nowadays homosexuality is not much of a taboo. When your parents were born, it was still one of those things regarded with a little disgust. You're lucky, your parents have taken it well, you're almost out of the woods now.
