HGTV Canada recently began broadcasting a British programme named A Place in Spain featuring Dawn Buckler and Rocco Barker. She's an ex-pat Canadian and he's an ex-rocker who was part of a band named 'Flesh for Lulu'.
I swear, their show is like a train wreck in progress. You want to close your eyes and not watch it, but something compels you at the same time to keep your eyes open just to see what's going to happen next.
The whole idea behind the show is that Dawn and Rocco want to leave Britain behind and move to Spain where they hope to buy property and expand it into something of a B&B. The entire process is a comedy of errors, and it's hilarious!
Dawn is whacked out with her makeup and coloured hair and Rocco is. . . well. . . Rocco. He wears the thickest glasses I've ever seen which, I suspect, would allow you to see the rings of Saturn.
Their favourite pass times seem to be smoking like chimneys and inhaling alcohol. I'm sure they keep the local pubs in business all by themselves. They have a car and guitar collection worth many thousands of pounds, but the don't seem to have a penny to their names.
We're only a few episodes in so I don't know what happens, but I'm quite enjoying it. I have to admire their gumption and 'Devil-may-care' attitude.
I can hardly wait until next week to see what happens next.
