UVALDE, Texas (AP) — Families of the children and teachers killed in the Uvalde, Texas, school massacre are renewing demands for criminal charges after a scathing Justice Department report again laid bare numerous failures by police during one of the deadliest classroom shootings in U.S. history...

Don't hold your breath; Abbot ordered the cover-up, disappeared the evidence, and is shielding the guilty. Justice for dead children doesn't matter a tinker's damn to any of them.

"Wayne's World"

The NRA trial in NY isn't getting a lot of media coverage but it is revealing an astounding amount of graft and corruption going back decades. The NRA attempted to file for bankruptcy in 2021 in Texas but failed. The failed bankruptcy filing also attempted to change the venue for the current criminal trial in NY.

Wayne LaPierre is accused of underwriting a lavish lifestyle using funds from the NRA donations and from vendors which received lucrative NRA business contracts. The NY charges were filed in 2021, however LaPierre has remained at the NRA until this month when he voluntarily resigned from the not-for-profit. Among the accusations is that LaPierre crafted a $17 million payout exit package for himself that will be paid when he leaves the organization.

The longtime head of National Rifle Association operated as the “King of the NRA,” spending lavishly on himself, punishing dissent and showering allies with country club memberships and no-show contracts, a lawyer for the New York attorney general’s office told jurors Monday.

Wayne LaPierre’s methods as the NRA’s executive vice president and chief executive officer allowed him to operate the powerful gun rights organization “as Wayne’s World for decades,” Assistant Attorney General Monica Connell argued in an opening statement in a civil trial scrutinizing his leadership and spending at the nonprofit.

Connell said LaPierre charged the organization more than $11 million for private jet flights over the years and authorized $135 million in NRA contracts for a vendor whose owners provided him repeated access to a 108-foot (33-meter) yacht and free trips to the Bahamas, Greece, Dubai and India.

At the same time, LaPierre, 74, consolidated power and avoided scrutiny by hiring unqualified underlings who looked the other way, routing expenses through a vendor, doctoring invoices, and retaliating against board members and executives who questioned his spending, Connell said.

Oliver North, former NRA President, testified in court that the NRA was used as a "personal piggy bank" for executives in the NRA, including Wayne LaPierre.

Former National Rifle Association President Oliver North was ousted after he raised concerns about corruption within the gun-lobbying group, he testified Tuesday at a civil corruption trial in New York.

Prosecutors allege that top NRA members used the non-profit organization as their “personal piggy bank,” through years of illegal self-dealing and financial misconduct.

Thought I'd post this here instead of the thread I originally wanted to post in.
Save the Mods the trouble of moving it here.

Guilty.

Since this is a civil trial, it comes with financial penalties but no prison time.

A Manhattan jury found three top executives of the National Rifle Association liable Friday in a lengthy civil trial that focused on alleged corruption and the misspending of millions of dollars...

Jurors found that LaPierre "violated his statutory obligation to discharge the duties of his position in good faith."

They concluded that he had caused roughly $5.4 million worth of harm to the nonprofit group's finances — though they also found that LaPierre had already repaid roughly $2 million.

Still too bad that they didn't force the NRA to dissolve and that LaPierre and the others basically get off scot free.

The AZ state legislature regularly tries to pass bills to allow guns on college campuses. The Board of Regents, even though every single one of them is a Republican appointee, has consistently opposed this legislation. If it ever passes, I'm out of here.

(Reuters) - More than two dozen Republican state attorneys general sued the Biden administration on Wednesday to stop a new rule that would require gun dealers to obtain licenses and conduct background checks when selling firearms at gun shows and online...

Because, of course.

Americans have no idea at all about how much they are damaging and de-sensitizing their children.

Duck and cover is child's play in comparison.
