It's official, the new Wonder Woman is here

How do you know what she will be wearing, and that the pants will be staying???

Dan DiDio was asked about it at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), and Newsarama.com posted video footage.

Question: "Speaking of the revised Wonder Woman: Will she keep her pants on?"

Dan DiDio: "Figuratively or Literally? Literally, yes."

BrianPGH

It also said this:

DiDio is now asking who likes the old costume: Hands are raised. "Looks like mostly men." A female fan then shouts "I don't like the pants!"

Eagle chest or WW? "Eagle!" DiDio: "You guys have read too many comics." He says that fans'll be excited about what's coming up with Wonder Woman. "We want to make sure the character stands on her own merits."

Willingham: Detective Chimp, who would solve a mystery every single page. Snyder: Wonder Woman. Pants or no pants? Snyder: No pants.

I found the whole thing rather cryptic. I have also heard that Dan DiDio was kind of a prick on other Wonder Woman message boards.

With the series coming out we just might see the series suit become the main suit. I would be shocked if they didn't put it in the comics some place. I have a sorta off topic question. How do you guys feel about her losing her virginity? Remember Jiminez was gonna do it and I think DC said no. Donna is a huge whore to kinda make up for Diana not having sex. It's like guys get to sleep kinda with Wonder Woman but Wonder Woman stays pure. Does it matter if she does "it"? In the 1st series she slept with Steve after they were married in the last issue then she was killed in Crisis.

I first started reading Wonder Woman in the 70's, so my opinion is she can ONLY sleep with him. In my (nieve) mind, HE is the only reason why she left Paradise Island, and her one and only 'true love'. They were made for each other (literally), and meant to be together.

Otherwise, to me, her sleeping around would conflict with the (tradtional, by our standards) Amazon rule of being 'man hating'.

I see it as, the Amazons did their wars in Ancient Greece, and learned to hate men... and harbored a grudge for thousands of years. Diana was born on Paradise Island, and while brought up to distrust men, the only ones she'd seen were statues of gods, and paintings. Having never seen one, she would obviously be curious about them, despite what her upbringing was... and irony or fate would have her fall in love with the first one she saw... Steve Trevor.

There are lots of fictional couples who just wouldn't make it if you broke them up:

(a few)
Superman and Lois Lane
Jeannie and Tony Nelson
Samantha and Darrin Stevens
Beauty and the Beast

Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor :D

One of my favorite old issues was #300, with Wonder Woman married to Steve on Earth-2, and their daughter Lyta Trevor, and the rest of the Justice Society married to their sig. others... it was nice to see a different spin on how Earth-1 could have been in an idealistic, down home way.

I wouldnt want them to become an old married couple either, like Lois and Clark... I like the chase.

Straight men have fragile ego's... how do you keep Steve from being intimidated by a woman who can clearly open her own pickle jars? (Althought the DVD Cartoon did VERY well).

I don't mind her having sex but only if the writers are keeping in mind that she is a role model, and depict her as being responsible about it. In love and monogamous.

She's going to have several suitors in the TV series. Hopefully she won't be sleeping with all of them.

That is actually my ALL time fav run of Wonder Woman. 300 was her anniversary issue. 300 was maybe the best issue of Wonder Woman. I have several copies of that one. That run introduced The Silver Swan, Captain Wonder who was Dr.Psycho, The original Artemis whose bones were found and reanimated to battle Wonder Woman, The W on her chest was introduced, Sophia was also introduced, I could go on. I have that complete run. It started at 288 and went to maybe 305/306? Not sure when it ended? The art and writing was darker then anything that had been done before. The whole run had a creepy feel to it and I loved that. I remember that's when I was really collecting Wonder Woman as a kid. I was maybe 10 or 11. I have the complete run until the series ended. Even though I have all the issues I would love to see it in trade. Borg69, have you read the full run?

I guess I'm not understanding the question about 'full run'. I have all those you've shown covers for.

One of my earliest Wonder Woman comic's is issue #62. I also have several Dollar Comics, and I believe Sensation Comics that featured Wonder Woman. I have some Brave and the Bold with Diana when she was de-powered and she teams up with Batman, and some of her 'powered' working with Batman.

I'm going to guess my collection is most complete from the 100's up to around (guessing) #320's -ish. I'm not exactly sure on the numbering. I do have like the first 40 or so of the Perez run... and then I stopped buying comics. I couldn't afford all the titles I was collecting, and their prices went up way too much for me.

I would read them in book stores once in a while, and recently I've started downloading them.

I'm aware of, but haven't read that whole time of her life when she changed to the biker shorts, cut her hair, and worked at Taco Wiz. I don't think I'm missing much as far as that goes.

My Justice League goes back almost that far, and I have many Justice Society, Infinity Inc., All-Stars, ... especially if they had the Earth-2 Wonder Woman.

I just meant the full run of 288 to 305 or 306 or whenever that run ended and they got a new artist and writer. I have two boxes filled with Wonder Woman comics. 131 is the earliest I have. I had earlier but sold them on ebay. And from 210 on I have a complete run till the first series ended. The second run I have maybe the first dozen Perez and then just random issues till Artemis appeared. Then I have the complete rest of the run till the series ended including all the one shots and what have you. I sold a chunk of it on ebay. I figured I had the trades. Didn't have room to have everything. I have JLA and JSA books and whatever else she appeared in like a story arc of Green Lantern here or a Superman 2 shot there. I had the full run of JLA but sold that on ebay but have the trades. I have the full JSA run that just ended. I almost have all the trades. Missing one. Not sure what to do with the full collection of that. Might hold onto it for a few more years then sell. I also stopped buying comics in the late 80's. That's when I came out and did the whole I am a cool gay kid thing, lol. I picked comics up again when I came across Kingdom Come issue 1 from Alex Ross. I saw it in a Waldens. The art pulled me in and I started collecting again. I said I would stop once they hit over $2.25 and I did. I like how DC writes on the covers"drawing the line at $2.99". Two comics for $6.00 isn't cheap. And people buy many. I just went to trades and buy them used.

I miss the way Wonder Woman was written in the 1st run. She wasn't as super and she had love and a whole life as Diana Prince. Perez really powered her up. Now she's untouchable. Maybe this TV series will bring back down to Earth a bit. I doubt they will make her fly.

I read the new TV WW has a 'thing' for jets... unconfirmed if she will have an invisible one.

I think most all the heroes are a bit TOO 'super'. I dont have a problem with Wonder Woman and Superman maybe lifting buildings, or tossing an army tank upto a mile or so... but when they can toss those things into orbit, or literally move planets and moons, thats too much.

Is Wonder Woman still quoted as being faster then Mercury? Where does Wonder Woman compare in speed to the Flash, and Superman? Are they faster then the 'god' Mercury?

She used to be "Wise as Athena"... I would think she would be on par with Batman in deductive skills, but you never see her doing much thinking, and just punching. I would like to see her do a little detecting, and doing a little creeping around in the dark tracking down bad guys. Not ALL the time - that's Batman's thing - but once in a while would work. (Present incarnation of WW doesnt count).

She should be faster, smarter, and even stronger then the men. But even though Wonder Woman fights for women's rights DC is chauvinistic.

That is why I dont get the whole "Make her wear Pants" thing. Realistically (if I can use that term regarding comic characters) The Amazons are all women, from a time back when even the MEN didnt wear pants. Wonder Woman wearing pants is the biggest irony.

A skirt doesnt make sense, as it would fly up and what not during battle, flying, jumping... the original shorts make the most sense.

I made these in a 3D people making program called POSER. Some of them are more of 'doodles', or concept art seeing if I could reproduce certain comic effects, so they're kinda crude... also some of these were made when I was first learning my way around in POSER, so excuse them not being 100% polished.

Those are cool! I did some poster size art of her and some sketches. I wanted to be a comic book artist but never followed through. I graduated from a school of Commercial art but never used it. I don't draw much anymore. It wasn't the drawing I liked as much as the coloring and shading.

Those are awesome! I used to try to draw, and was my own worst critic. If I came even close to your work I would have been happy... which is the reason why I got into the 3D stuff. I cant take too much credit though... the software does most of the work. :)

@2ndpic , WW wearing a g-string? Nope, not good [-X.

That costume (the one in the OP) looks like a cheap Halloween costume. Those bright colors do not translate to real-life well at all. and that material looks ridiculous. It doesn't even fit on her very well.

That's why the X-men movies changed the costumes from what they were in the comics, and made the joke about "yellow spandex"; it looks cool in artwork, but Wolverine's costume would have looks completely stupid on camera.

That's pretty awesome. I love her hair and costume in Picture #3. You should work on shading in her cheekbones and nose a little bit, and thin out the black outline of her arm and between her legs. . .but everything else looks pretty damn good, especially her hair. You nailed those parts

5 looks just about comic perfect, and 4's really interesting, too. You really do have talent.

Thanks? I think? lol And that's not how shading works unless you want her to look gaunt, with a Michael Jackson nose. And some pics are stylized. You draw? Another topic: I was reading today DC was gonna do a second animated Wonder Woman but the sales were so bad they didn't. I was looking at the sales chart and she did better then several of the movies including Green Lantern but they are still coming out with a second Green Lantern movie. I don't get that?

Just read that Justin Bruening from All My Children and Knight Rider remake IS Steve Trevor. I wonder who the guy they cast that looks like Steve Trevor is playing? Nemesis? Could be interesting.

She didn't do bad at all. I read at the DC boards that sales were good but slow, and that's what executives didn't like.
