I know what you mean. We shouldn't even bother with the biting and chewing and just stick them directly to our waistlines.

....and this damn new smart phone keeps thinking for me and typing weird shit that makes no sense...very annoying.

YES....I MEANT TO SAY TYPlNG...NOT TYPHOON...GRRRRR

I'm suddenly reminded of my brother and sister-in-law. My brother loves pumpkin pie (as do the rest of the family). His wife hates it. When they were first married, my brother tried and tried to get his wife to make a pumpkin pie. She finally gave in and went to the store to buy a tin of pumpkin pie filling. She made a pastry and prepared the pan, opened the tin, and dumped the contents into the shell. No sugar. No spices. No nothing. Just pure pumpkin. She popped it into the over for the specified time and served it to my brother for supper.

It wasn't quite what my brother was hoping for.

When my Mom was alive she would make pumpkin pies from scratch using some kind of white squash looking pumpkin(sugar pumpkins maybe?...not sure what they were)Anyway, they were very good. She would use less spices. It tasted more like fresh pumpkin mousse.

Years ago a young couple I knew got married, and the wife made him London Boil one night for dinner. She put a London Broil in a pan and boiled it for a while, and tried serving it to her husband(not sure how)But it was pretty much like trying to eat an old shoe. They still talk about it today.And...she isn't even a blond. :)

Pumpkin yogurt time? Bah ... let me know when it's cabbage yoghurt time. :clown:

We should be married :luv2:

I'm not a big pumpkin or cabbage person---you have to cum up with something else if I'm coming over for dinner.:##::p

I don't let anyone in my house who don't like cabbage!

I love fresh, real pumpkin, too. I've served it different ways, but one favorite was sauteed chunks in evoo with ricotta salata, pomegranate berries and honey.

Mom used to make real pumpkin pies when the kids were at home, but, after we were grown and out of the house, she turned to tinned pumpkin. After all, it was real pumpkin. Just not home-prepared.

We used to grow our own raspberries and strawberries, and even pumpkins. We also had 4 sour cherry trees. There were apple orchards all around us, so we didn't need to grow those. Mom used to make all those pies.

I miss them, and I miss her making them.

Pumpkin yogurt ?
is it a real food and where is the packaging pic ?

Me too :( I love the idea of having any kind of fruit trees. We only had mulberry trees that some of the neighbors made wine with. The berries were sweet when in season. They also made a mess of our shoes from stepping on them.(I can hear my Mom yelling still)Our old house backed up to a nice sized farm. Most of it was corn fields with small patches of radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots. It was nice having fresh salad items growing in our back yard for dinner almost every night.Today I always forget to buy radishes in the store,(and I like them thin sliced in a salad.)

Yea...most yogurts have sugar.Different brands have less or more. You have to look at the sugar grams on the label.Chobani does not taste overly sweet in my opinion.

THREAD TITLE...sing to the tune of...

...which got me to watching a Howdy Doody episode from 1951, now. Yes, one of the most popular kids' shows ever...but how did mail get to "Howdy Doody, P. O. box 4, New York, N. Y."??

Not even a Zone in the address. I don't get it. (No, zip Codes didn't exist yet, but Zones were used - such as Detroit 23, Michigan.)

It's like you wake up in a strange new world, and everything is pumpkin spiced.

And what's with all the people who like pumpkin spice everything, except pies?

We usually make our pumpkin filling from scratch...although occasionally we have to cheat.

For Thanksgiving, I always make my great Aunt Esther's pumpkin pie which has the egg whites beaten and folded in separately which makes for a lighter pie.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
