Looking republican leaning states like Georgia, which has Sanders ahead of Trump by 5% and Hillary Clinton down 4%, Bernie Sanders should run as a 3rd party candidate.

Hillary Clinton has everything she needs to run, wall street superpacs, the DNC, etc, and will give Hillary everything shes wanted since day 1, for Bernie to drop out of the race so that she can be crowned Queen.

We don't have anything to lose by supporting Sanders as a 3rd party candidate, but Americans have a lot to lose if we fold to democratic party politics of picking the most pro-war, pro-wall street candidate to every call themselves a democrat.

I like the idea of a Sanders 3rd party run, I believe he could carry states that Clinton may have wanted like California, Oregon and Washington, and since the democratic party doesn't need every swing state to go their way for Hillary to win, Sanders running as a 3rd party candidate will be his only hope if he wants to be president, and he would win, easily.

Against two most disliked nominees of their parties, why wouldn't Bernie take that chance?

Good luck with that.

Obviously you are really wanting to see the GOP take the White House this year.

It worked out so well the last time.

Don't worry--Hillary will win California, Oregon, and Washington and Georgia. Polls don't mean anything now.
We will keep a dem in white house---so don't worry ---the dem party will keep fighting for your rights .

Anything bad for the democrat party is good for the USA.

Any gay person who says that anything bad for the Dems is good for the USA is an idiot but they have to live there not me!

so true especially since the past few repub presidencies have been horrible on just about every level financially and on personal freedom. They talk about shrinking the size of gov---all repub administrations have increased it---they have been a total negative force in moving forward for many decades and have created 100% the nutty atmosphere we find ourselves in.

Thread title is absurd. More delusional trash from this poster. Seems he does really want Trump to win. I kinda figured so.

well if you want a real conspiracy theory--for the first time trump tweeted out today RUN BERNIE RUN--encouraging him to run as a third party independent lol---coincidence or is someone working for the trump campaign lol

In a scenario of President Donald Trump with a Republican Congress for four years there wouldn't be a USA left to worry about. Of all the candidates from either party, Secretary Clinton has by far the most experience in government and foreign policy. Period. She is smart, maybe more than President Clinton. She has survived and overcome decades of attacks from the Right, and the embarrassing non-issue of her husband's sex addiction, and still emerges as the most qualified candidate who would make a President who would push America forward, building bridges in DC and across the world. Strong, smart, steady and qualified. Bernie I would love to see as President, but he would not cooperate with business, make much needed but precipitous social and military reforms, blah, blah. But....I would take that over the chaos of Donald's schoolyard approach human relations. He is embarrassing and offensive and a loose cannon on so many levels. Talk about baggage? Racism, sexism and...Jeez. Ted Cruz has not gone back to Hades, and I fear the forces of darkness may not yet be put down there. The one best thing for America is President Hillary Clinton.

It isn't a conspiracy...it is common sense.

Everyone knows that a third party candidate invariably hurts one of the two major party candidates.

Ross Perot did.

Ralph Nader gave the world Bush.

I wouldn't be surprised if Donald and some of the other GOP heavyweights out there wouldn't be looking to mail in 100000000 donations of $27 dollars each to fund Sanders' campaign as a third party candidate.

What the grown-ups in the room count on is Bernie looking at the larger stakes by the time of the convention and convincing his supporters that they need to unify against a Trump presidency.

I hope you are right...I really do...but I won't believe it until I hear him actually do just that. I have never been confident that he will do this.

I don't trust his ego....and his penchant for absolutes suggest to me an OCD level of "principle".

Ralph Nader gave the world Bush.

Well, that was more or less Theresa LePore's fault.

Even though he never made even one campaign stop in Palm Beach County, Mr. Buchanan, the Reform Party candidate, finished with 3,704 votes in the staunchly Democratic county -- nearly 2,700 more than Mr. Buchanan received in any of Florida's other 66 counties.

Trump realizes that Bernie running third party is the only way he wins the general, so of course he wants that.

Bernie also realizes this though, and will definitely not oblige him.

No, nothing to lose. Nothing at all.

Just the entire concept and meaning of how special it is to be American.

Possibly lose the United States.

Possibly even lose this entire fucking planet.

Third party candidates, in modern U. S. politics, ALWAYS virtually assure that the one who goes to the White House is the MAJOR PARTY person who is the most unlike the Third Party candidate. (1980 was a very weird and notable exception, but the hostage crisis AND a recession were going on.)

Would Trump's first SCOTUS nominee be Sally Kern from Oklahoma? Last week, she DOUBLED TOWN on her 2008 comments that GAY PEOPLE ARE THE WORST EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO THE UNITED STATES, EVEN MORE THAN TERRORISM. (And furthermore she is term-limited and cannot be on the ballot this year as a State Rep. who sits in Oklahoma City, so she'll be absolutely free for anything...and no doubt will be named to something.)

Now, suddenly experience and foreign policy experience are important. Not when Obama the community organizer ,lol, ran, nor when McCain ran, nor Dole, nor when Clinton ran against GHWBush--businessman, representatve, CIA director, Ambassador to China, Vice Pres and the President. We don't need no stinking experience. And never mind that Hillary has been enormously unsuccessful.

Nope. It was Ralph Nader.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_effect

It is now even referred to as the Nader effect.

He drew off a significant number of votes that certainly would have gone for the most part to Al Gore.

And so Ralph Nader gave the world Bush.

Just like Bernie would give the world Trump if he decided to split the liberal vote.

The history is older than that. Douglas and Breckenridge split the dem party and Lincoln won without a majority. Roosevelt's Progressive party split Republicans, andWilson won. It is the reason we cannot have a multiple party system. It is inherent in any system of voting for the president rather the a parliamentary system,

The title of this thread should be ..........

It's time to hold the Democratic Party Establishment to a platform that provides for the 99%

That's what the party is supposed to be about - not protecting the current but forging the right future for so many people who have been left out

Evanrick - off the deep end bombs don't get it done and if you truly are a Bernie supporter not just a Hillary hater you'd know the difference between fair and reasonable Hillary/Dem Establishment criticism

and this
