  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I've been Banned!

Gmoney... isn't it sad how fascist non- and ex-smokers can be? I think they need a nice cup of shut-the-fuck-up. I commiserate with you. Due to financial reasons last year, I was forced to move into a domicile with house mates and am prohibited from smoking in the house. It is often annoying and inconvenient. But I refuse to quit smoking to accommodate others. It is something I really enjoy and as far as I'm concerned,it is nobody's business but my own. As I said earlier, everyone else can enjoy a nice steaming cup of shut-the-fuck-up!

Considering i pay rent for my room i allow myself to smoke in that room. though i do take precautions about teh smoke, candles, vanilla, and an open window.

When it comes to bars and work, if its -30 outside, fuck it, i smoke one in the bathroom, ive yet to see a police officer break down the door to give me a fine. And seriously, they have better things to do than to crack down on illegal smoking. Somewhere out there, there's some white-trash hetero couple having a domestic dispute, and those things tend to be bigger health issues for the people involved :P

Just give up that filthy, stinky, smelly habit and you'll be a much better person for it.

gary, a lot of people are very hard on smokers - not knowing the chains the habit puts on the smoker. I have seen so many people want to quit so much and not be able to do it. This must be the addiction of additions. Anyway, I hope you are able to come to some peaceful resolution inside yourself for the change you are willing to make for your father's survival. Obviosly, it is a difficult adjustment
ding

I worked at a Hess station for a number of years and picked up this habit there. I really do hate it. When I got my current job I resolved to quit and I did. About six months into the job, I was not coping well with the situation we were in, stress, I guess. Starting again. I've tried to stop of number of times since then. Been successful for three or four weeks here and there but then that goddamn will power thing breaks down. I've tried gum, patches even hypnosis. I have a plan, though, that I hope to put into action soon for quitting. I'll let you know if it works.

As for smoking inside, never done it. Never would want to. I'm sure you will do the right thing and respect your father's wishes. Good luck my friend!

Have some respect for the other people who use that bathroom, they don't all want to be smelling your smoke.

pffftt.....
Believe me there are much worse, far worse smells then cigarette smoke one can encounter in a public shitter.
No doubt you think some of these odors are better?

I'd say it is nobody's business but their own unless I can smell it. At that point, I'd like to own shares in the tobacco companies so I can at least profit at the smoker's expense.

And although I think smoking outdoors is best if someone has to smoke, I'd rather my neighbours smoked indoors so it doesn't waft over my fence.

so, umm..non smoker....and...erm...hallelujah?

No. I don't really use public toilets but when I do I don't want to smell smoke, end of. Most public toilets I have used have been quite fresh smelling.

Just because there is something worse doesn't give you the right to do something bad.

No one could give a shit about how annoying or inconvenient it is for you to smoke outdoors, it is far far more annoying and inconvenient for other people to have to breathe in your stinking smoke.

Pro smokers are the ones who need to take your steaming cup of shut the fuck up, you have no sense of respect whatsoever if you actually feel like you should be allowed to smoke in front of others or in a shared house.

Just for your information, (even though I know you don't give a shit!) I've ALWAYS been considerate of non-smokers when I smoke. I don't smoke in my car with non-smokers present. I don't blow smoke in other people's faces.

The reason for my starting this thread was not to wage a war against non-smokers vs. smokers. It was just expressing my own frustration with my current personal situation.

You've started a few threads of your own in completely different matters with the same concept, but you chose to attack me simply because smoking is something you feel strongly against. I have no problem with the way you feel on this matter. My beef with you is that you (according to your own posts) feel like my situation is shallow and inconsiderate of others and therefore, selfish. That was not what I was getting at all!

I never said a word when you made the comment on wishing your parents would "hurry up and die" so you could inherit their nice, expensive home!

Dont' judge me on my own things that bring discomfort to my lifestyle without being at least objective in what you have to say.

Btw, my father went into 'respiratory failure' today, and I had to take action to keep him alive. I've maybe had 3 smokes today total. I hope that makes you happy.

Public bathrooms usually smell worse then cigarette smoke.

So? That doesn't mean you have the right make it worse. (I am presuming you live in an area where smoking in public toilets isn't allowed)

* If someone stole a television from a store that doesn't give me the right to steal a CD just because it costs less. It is still stealing.
* If someone writes something racist on the side of a house it doesn't give me the right to write my name because it isn't as bad as the racism. It is still graffiti.

You are just making the problem worse.

Update... (for anyone that's intersested).

My father is doing much better today. We go tomorrow for more tests.

I appreciate all the replies that were genuine concerning my current situation.

I also am glad to hear from all of you that are passionate about not smoking and at the same time, remained courteous to me with my own unhealthy habit. So far, I've cut my amount of smoking almost in half. Who knows...maybe I can reduce it to zero! I have intentions to do just that. I don't want to make it public (either here or with family) just because I don't want the pressure or the "spotlight" on my progress. I'll make an announcement when I'm successful...that's all.
