Gym, online poker, television, more gym... and now I'm back on them because of school.

72 hrs thats pretty wicked.

I tried to quit once, didn't last anywhere near that long.

Keep it up dude.

Bravo for you and those who suffer from 2nd-hand-smoke!

Do you exercise?

If so, I've heard this "does" help with the withdrawal pains/feelings of having nothing to do!

Your health/life will thank you for what you are doing and btw, doing it well!!!

Keep up the good work!(*8*)

well it's nearer to 79 hours since I last had a cigarette. I've done it cold turkey with hypnosis - I guess that's still cold turkey - but whatever that ultimately means I've gone for 79 hours without a ciggie.

To all those who've successfully quit smoking in the past can I ask, did you find yourself with hours of spare time and nothing to do with it???

Holy Cow man you are doing just fine..
I once quite for three weeks.... but I didnt' make it.

A buddy of mine told me that once you make it past 5 days you were fine and dandy... Well that was not the case with me.

I don't know about hypnosis, but I figure you are doing it cold tukey man... and that is tough.

A buddy of mine once used eating sunflower seeds ( the ones in the shell) as a way to keep his hands busy so he wouldn't smoke.

A girl friend of mine just used cleaning here house as a way to keep her mind of smoking.

I've heard that making some carrot sticks and playing with them as if you were smoking a cig does work.
Or even playing with a pen or pencil... like holding it in your hand as if it were a cig.

Man, I wish you the best of luck...... ..|..|
My brother broke himself of it... took ihim about 4 months... and yeah, that sound like a long time.....
but you can do it my friend.

Way to go rs ..............

.............. although tobacco and nicotine are not one of my addictions I continue to successfully battle other chemical addictions..............and I wish you all the best.............. (*8*)

... I have actually walked for half an hour twice a day since and I've got an ab-rolly-thingy that I'm using for 10 minutes in the morning.
Keep up the exercise and drink lots of water. Stay positive and you'll do it, mate!

I was a packet-a-day man until about 7 years ago, when I made the decision once and for all to give up. A brisk half hour walk every morning, drinking lots of water throughout the day, and chewing nicotine gum got me through it. I still miss the fags on the odd occasion but I've never been tempted to light one up again, and I have absolutely no regrets.

If you need a buddy who understands completely what it's like, don't hesitate to PM me any time. (*8*)

Even though I've never gone through this kind of hell, I wish you the best.

Best of luck getting through this heroic journey!

You are doing well, don't give up!

You can look forward to these things;

* Within 20 minutes your blood pressure and pulse returns to normal.
* Within 8 hours nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in blood reduce by half, oxygen levels return to normal and circulation improves.
* Within 24 hours carbon monoxide and nicotine are eliminated from the body.
* Within 48 hours the ability to taste and smell improves.
* Within 3 days your breathing becomes easier as your bronchial tubes begin to relax.
* Within a few weeks your fingers lose their yellow stains and your skin looks better.
* Within 1 month your appearance improves - skin loses its greyish pallor and becomes less wrinkled.
* Within 3-9 months coughing and wheezing declines.
* Within 1 year the risk of heart attack reduces by half compared to that of a smoker.
* Within 10 years the risk of lung cancer falls to about half that of a smoker.
* Within 15 years your risk of coronary heart disease is the same as a non-smoker.

Well done so far. I used to smoke as much as you but one day two years or so ago I decided to give up. I hate waste so I poured water on my tobacco with the idea being that if I smoked again then that would have been a waste. The only aid I used was determination, the first 3 to 5 days were the worst. I haven't touched a fag since and have absolutely no intention of ever doing so.

Keep up the good work, well done so far (*8*)

Congratulations. :=D:

I never smoked but am told that after 3 days the physical addiction is gone....now it's just the mental craving....good luck!!!!:gogirl:

Good for you raven it only gets better. I did the hypnosis
thing three and a half years ago and haven't smoked since.
The physical part was easier than the mental. It was probably
the best decision that I ever made.

I wish you the very best stay at it, it is so worth it. I feel so much
better. The health benefits alone are great. The financial are as
well. You can do it raven.
Good luck bud, shea (*8*)

I quit two weeks ago, im on the patch and it seems to be working fine. new york state has a stop smoking web site and they sent me the first two weeks worth of patches. maybe your state has something like that to help you.

you made it this far, now you have to go for it! you can do it!

Patience rewards us with the recognition of good health, and an increasing awareness that we are contributing more time to our future life.
