....And not the good kind either.

So, I have a Trojan horse. and its starting to piss me off. Every time I have to restart my computer, for whatever reason, it won't let my computer remember my cookies (cookies are what keeps your login information for various sites, right?). Its also keeps my Symantec from opening.....my computer will still do its scheduled virus scan, and it will still detect the trojan and quarantine it, but it can't remove it, and it won't open when I click on it. I'm running the current version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and its coming back clean each scan. Also, I can't view vids such as those at Youtube or anything that uses Java(I think....).

The funny thing is, after a while (say, over night while I'm sleeping) the cookie thing corrects, and I'll be able to stay logged in at each site I use. But when I restart, its back to the way it was. same with the Java thing.

Is there anything I could do or use to try and remove it?

You can try booting Windows into safe mode and doing your techniques above - it can sometimes meet with success you won't have under the typical mode. For the Norton quarantine issue, see if you can toast the file in safe mode either through Norton's own interface (if the program will launch under safe mode, differing from the difficulties you have in regular mode) or if not, through Windows Explorer (or, if necessary, via a command prompt). Sometimes Norton will put a lock on a quarantined file and since you're having trouble with the Norton product (possibly caused by the trojan interface), it might be Norton locking it (even preventing a delete, once quarantined) or the trojan itself. Also see what your Malwarebytes results are (with the "Full Scan" option) under safe mode.

You could also always do a web-based scan or try another product like cityboy recommended (or reinstall Norton with the hope that a fresh install with see and remove the trojan, even if it's "stuck" in its quarantine currently). Make sure you use "Safe Mode with Networking" if you plan to get online in Safe Mode; otherwise, try any of this stuff in regular mode.

Let us know how it works out. Stuff like this can be frustrating!

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the siggestions! I just did a scan of my computer in safemode wth Avast, and I think I managed to get the problem licked. I'll keep watch over the next few days, but I think things might be back to normal.

I hate trojans, mine was so bad it wouldn't let me go into Safe Mode. Good that you got it taken care of. Avast is the shit.

Did you check the cookie settings in your browser?

Now that you have miraculously gotten this far....... ;) .......get and run this ONE:
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

Save the application as it does NOT "install" anything on your computer.
It will need to update each time you launch it as there is no resident "program" to save things.
It's a terrific thing to have!....... ..|
