There has to be reason for it. I'm with Goula, go see your doctor.

Agree with ^^, but also get a tongue scraper and scrape the back of your tongue well.

Do you brush your tongue also when you brush your teeth? If not try that, all kinds of stuff can build up on the tongue. If that doesn't do it, are you flossing every day at least once? particles of food stuck in between the teeth can be decaying and have an awful odor. If that isn't it - I suggest going to your doctor, as Goula posted- Chronic sinus drainage is one cause, I just went blank on the others.... Good luck

I agree that you should go see your doctor about it.

Bad breath usually has more to do with stomach problems than the teeth and mouth. It might not be serious but could be an excess of stomach acid. Doctor's have many excellent pills today that can help with that.

Your diet also might have some effect on it. Obviously, if you eat a lot of aromatic foods like garlic, onions or herbs, that can affect it. You also might have a food sensitivity to some food you eat commonly that causes the reaction.

As a short stop gap, you might try using some antacids or drinking a little bit of baking soda in a glass of water. I believe the amounts to use are on the box in Armand Hammer's baking soda. Taking some allergy antihistamines also can help. However, talking to your doctor is the best place to start.

just a quick guess.
ever had problems with your tonsils?

Also thoroughly floss every day in addition to the tongue brushing etc. A one time cleaning at the dentist won't do it. Bacteria and other crap between the teeth can infect the gums and cause serious bad breath. If you find flossing somewhat painful or it causes bleeding then that's probably because of the infection. If you keep at it daily the gums will heal up, the pain and bleeding will stop and so will the bad breath. This must horrible for you. I hope you find your answer.

What Corny said about the tonsils.

Could be something called tonsil stones (tonsilloliths), which are dead cells from your oral cavity, which instead of being swallowed, are accumulated in the crypts of your tonsils.

Oprah actually covered this a few years ago...they had guests where the said the same thing- that they have recurring bad breath no matter what the dentist does for them...there's a name for this, but I don't recall...you may want to search the Oprah website to see if anything comes up so you at least know the name of this and can give it to your dentist/doctor...although I would imagine that they would have already heard of this?

ditto to what everyone has said so far with the brushing, flossing, tongue scraping and diet adjustments.

also, perhaps you can check with your doctor and/or a gastroenterologist? there might be something off with your digestion or esophagus. do you have acid reflux?

Not very helpful Stryker

I was actually trying to be helpful. The human body,, CAN and WILL be a Nightmare!! ACNE, JOCKRASH, BODY ODOR... It's all a part of life.

I felt really bad for the guy, Bad Breath is a problem. Some of the things discussed on here are MORE than COMMON. SEE a DOCTOR!!

Here in the UNITIED STATES of AMERICA!! Giving MEDICAL advice will get you in COURT with a MAJOR LAWSUIT!! Plus it against the Law. Nurses are not allowed to even tell you to take two ASPRINS!!

The best bet...HERE in the USA is to see your DOCTOR. FOR EVERYTHING!!

The ATLANTA CENTER for DISEASE CONTROL would have a FIELD DAY with some of the advice on here.

USE common sense and see a Doctor. ADVICE doesn,t HEAL... It will KILL YOU!!

agree with above. And I recently heard that yogurt daily can help with bad breath (this assumes it's not b/c of tonsils or flossing etc)

Me too!! Very well, in fact.

Bad breath is rarely to do with anthing further back than the back of the tongue. Tonsils can be an issue, so yes, get them checked out. Most likely is that you have a thriving population of anaerobic bacteria at the back of the tonge. These produce smelly compounds called volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs). Some people have more than others, and they can be there regardless of how good your dental hygiene regime is.

Google bad breath as well as looking at Breezecare. The regime that is now working very well for me is:

Floss every night - without fail
Brush with a toothpaste that contains triclosan. Brush gums, roof of mouth etc
Scrape the tonge - especially at the back
Mouthwash with an oxidising mouthwash. "Therabreath", "Closys" or peroxide containing mouthwash. I have tried all three and preferred Therabreath, which contains sodium chlorate.

You can beat it with this, and your confidence will rocket!:-)
