The problem with people is that they are trying to base an entire movie off of a picture where he isnt acting at all. He is walking back to wherever on some down time.

I wish people would use some common sense and wait for a fucking trailer to say stupid shit. Not you luminum, other people

very true, but still. Jake is a great actor, and I think he can pull it off.

Of course, they could have gotten someone more fitted for the roll. But people are baseing entire opinions off of a picture of a guy during off time. It's like saying the Dark Knight was gonna suck just from seeing a picture of Jake Gyllenhaal eating dinner. It's stupid.

There hasn't even been a new POP video game out in a while, and even those that did come out weren't the most popular out there so I strongly doubt the film version will give Tomb Raider much of a run for its movie as being the highest grossing video game based film ever.

Jake has also shown little capability of carrying a movie all by himself. People don't really flock out to see him. I think he's more popular in theory than anything else. He's not a bad actor, but he's not really a standout either. His highest grossing movie was "The Day After Tomorrow" and considering that it was a blockbuster spectacle I'm sure Jake had little to do with it's financial success. "Brokeback Mountain" is his second highest grossing movie, but I think people were more curious about the gay themes than him.

There's also the fact that video game based movies rarely ever turn out well. They usually end up looking silly and cheap with actors who scarcely resemble their video game personas. These pictures are already leading me to believe this movie will be no different.

How do you know that? Do you have links to show his highest grossing films. He was also in Donnie Darko, which is a cult classic, and he practically carried the film.

The rest, I can kind of agree with. I am a huge Jake fan, and he is probably more popular in theory than he actually is. Nevertheless, people do flock to movies to see him. It might only be horny gay men, but they come.

Wow, I bet that guy totally didn't know he was in Donnie Darko and that it was a popular movie! Not that he was bad in the movie at all, but the whole story, plot, and plot twists in that movie are what carried it if you ask me. I'm not saying he's a bad actor, and neither is the other guy as far as I can see, but what he's saying is true. It doesn't matter if he can act, the point people are making is he's barely a good candidate, looks-wise, for the prince of persia.

We already know he doesnt look very much like the Prince of Persia. But i also dont think you should base your entire assumption of a movie on a picture of him on his off time. He was probably going back to his trailer to shower and fuck Reese.

No, what I mean is, if we're talking about a film that made Jake a star and had a high blockbuster theatre gross, then Donnie Darko wasn't both of those. Perhaps if it's what made him indie-famous and made a lot of money over the course of time since its release, then yes...

I think Brokeback Mountain really made him a star. I mean, the Day After Tomorrow put him in the spotlight. But I think Brokeback really did it for him.
 
I agree. I think it got him the press and attention to continue maintaining him on the celeb radar.
 
OK i just watched "the prince of persia"

All i have to say is LOL

And all the main characters looks like the Vikings.
No one look like Iranians at all.

They should at least choose the main characters from southern European background which is abit darker.

I agree about the casting, of course. You'd think that wouldn't be a problem these days, but then there was The Last Airbender as well...
