The birds were out and about here as well. We have six feeders of different sizes..but none big enough for the starlings to be an issue.
 
Something new the past two mornings. There are 2 doves out there, never saw them before.

I have been shooting my bb gun at 2 cats today that were jumping up at the birds on the feeders

That might work. If it doesn't, try squirting them with water, or throwing a bucket of water on them.

when I go out there, they just stare at me. I don't want to hurt them but shoot just over them. They did come back later.

Cats aren't a problem with out bird feeders. They're high enough to where they can't get them.

Yes there is, but they usually eat from the ground (spillage) or just wait on a branch
