James King of my 600 lb life has died at 49... left behind 19 grandkids

^ I thought that's what his doctors were doing.
I guess I should have said when he was younger.

His headache in the video was psychosomatic (or staged by the producers). It miraculously disappeared the instant his wife opened the door and stepped inside with the bagful of food. And his little quip about saving room for dessert made me laugh. I seriously doubt he would have had to save room.
Back I college for one semester I roomed with a guy with a gf that always had a migraine attack at the most convenient time. Her headache would miraculously go away when she got what she wanted. I always thought to myself is this guy really this naive? Well, when the semester was coming to an end he finally put his foot down and broke up with her. I always felt sorry for her next poor bastard.

My guess is that the show is all about ratings and advertising revenue and not peoples' lives. I stopped watching TLC when it became sensational 'reality'. It's like people on highways slowing down and rubbernecking when they pass a car accident.

Can you blame them? People will slow down on the highway to take a good look at the accident regardless of if it affected traffic or not. Sensational tv sells.

Any idea how much they paid these people to parade their lives for everyone to see? From what I have read, mobidly obese people tend yo isolate themselves from the world.

The undertaker surely has his work cut out for him.

I'm guessing most people in this size class are cremated these days. It is difficult enough to adequately embalm a large body, and custom-made caskets cost a fortune. I doubt a standard hearse can carry one at that.

All that spells cremation

Ironically, with the quarantine, there won't be a big gathering.

Without wishing to be too morbid, I assumed burial on the basis that he must be too big to fit through the door of a cremator. A grave can be dug as big as necessary.

Just as easy to cut him in half and shove him in. Innit?

/\ Liposuction.

Fat is highly combustible and dangerous in the retort.

Which is totally not the point I was making about James.

There is very little 'reality' in most reality TV and there is even less 'learning' in TLC.

I wonder... can liposuction work in a case like this to make an 800 lb person thin if money wasn't an issue?

Easy peasy. No risk at all since he's already dead.

Otherwise, not so much.

It's a shame those children aren't going to have a grand-dad in their lives as they grow up, I'm 26 and are lucky to have both my grand-dads still going strong in their late 70's (and both grandmoms).

There are crematoria with doors large enough. This article states there are ovens capable of handling corpses of 1,000 pounds. It's just a matter of added costs for transportation and burning longer.

The less the family has to know about the details, the more the funeral home has earned its money.

The family should not have to deal with the particulars after the type of interment is determined.
