So Jane Adams, star of the HBO show "Hung," had lunch at a West Hollywood restaurant, told he waiter she "forgot her check book" and stiffed him for the $13 bill.

He posted about it to Twitter so the spoiled brat gets the waiter fired.

I'm so sick and fucking tired of these Hollywood types who have this sense of "I'm a star, I don't pay for anything." What a fucking skank. I've been a waiter and seeing this just makes me want to puke.

That's so fucked up who can't pay 13 dollars and then bitch about it when they should of just paid

I agree that Jane Adams was an ass when she didn't pay the bill herself, considering that she probably makes more in one episode than this guy makes in an entire year as a waiter.

However, after reading various accounts of the incident, he apparently broke a "confidentiality" agreement, sort of like the "what happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas" phrase. The "safe environment" is what actors expect to have when they dine out. In a couple of his Twitter remarks, he talks about what different people ate, how one actress left a lip liner pencil, how another actress didn't wear a bra, etc. I think that's what got him fired. After the execs at Barneys read his Twitter page, they must have decided he was giving out too much information.

This article seems to confirm that:

"I understand they want to keep a safe environment for the celebrities and I think that I broke that safety," Ingels told Slashfood. "Had they come to me and said you need to take this down or change it to private, had I been told if you don't do this, you're going to lose your job -- I would've done that."

umm the restaurant owner is at fault.

Bad mouth the restaurant to go bankrupt is fairer .

People who work in restaurants, hotels, etc. frequented by celebrities dish the dirt with gossip columnists all the time, but they have the good sense to do it anonymously.

The restaurant can't aford to be known as one where the staff will publicize what happened when they waited on a celebrity. They'd lose too much business. So he had to be fired.

After the incident the manager should have taken the responsibility for contacting the woman's rep for payment of her bill. Certainly the waiter shouldn't have been responsible for the bill.

The waiter was either naive or stupid to think he could twitter about the incident and not lose his job.

What she did amounts to theft. In any 'normal' situation, the waiter would have been punished for not reporting it.

Oh, but this isn't a 'normal' situation. She's not one of us 'normal' people who have to pay for what we purchase.

A friend of mine who works at a store on Rodeo Drive says that many of the stores have "theft by celebrities" built into their cost and loss plans. Celebrities will often test how big a star they are by stealing things from stores.

Remember how shocked Wynona Ryder looked when she was found guilty of stealing?

Jane Adams was just testing how big a star she was by seeing if she could get away with a dine and dash.

Well, who cares what stars they are.

"stars" have to pay double or triple in my opinion because they disrupt the flow of normal business.

There is much truth in your reference to the behaviour of the celebrity elite.

However..

I have never owned a plastic card, and do not own a cheque book.

I pay all, by cash...

There has been an occasion, or even two where my restaurant bill exceeded the cash in my wallet. I spoke with the waiter ... and paid the difference the following day. In other words, it can happen....even to the proletariat.

You won't get too far in the US without plastic or a checking account. Zero equity means no house or even most rental places.

Really though a $13 bill?

I am willing to admit I have dine and dashed before but mine was justified. Why should I pay for my food when the service was shit, there was hair in my food and it was not even warm.

Anyways, I always thought all this theft stuff was on the DL and usually the store/restaurant manager would contact their assistants and they pay for some of the stuff that was "gratis".

She is a fucking cunt. First of all who pays with a check at a restaurant. Second of all who doesn't have a credit card or debit card as a back up.

Her agent visited the restaurant the next day, and paid the bill.

She turned up some days later, and paid the three dollar waiter's tip.

Greece is a cash society.

The waiter was/is publicity hungry. Perhaps he wishes to upgrade to a more visible role on television, or the silver screen.

Me. I have never owned a plastic card. I always pay cash. Here in Greece we can obtain better deals, even in restaurants, when paying cash.

She's an asshole for thinking that, first off, she didn't have to pay the bill... and then she's even more of one for going back and shoving the fact she read his tweet about her and wasn't "happy with it" in his face by giving him the tip he deserved the first time around.

Are you so certain?

Are all waiters, deserving of their tip?

This waiter would appear to demonstrate an appetite for self publicity, on a grand scale.

Yes, the waiter should have reported it -- to his manager. But not to the whole world via Twitter. Dumb move.

Thanks for trying to argue semantics
again.

I am not the one who has made the judgement. That is your department.

But to put it all in perspective, for, this case - it seems that he was patient, he allowed her to go to her car when she made up the lie about the checkbook, and so, if he was that courteous there, it would seem that he would have been throughout the meal.

That is your assumption, We really do not have an objective eye witness report to support your opinion. Do, we? Prove me wrong.

So i AM certain. As certain as i can be without having been a fly on the fucking wall.

I am happy that you are so positively, certain that your fly on the wall report is accurate. Imagine my opinion, of your detective abilities. ;)
