Japan may have copied aspects of the West, but it remains a profoundly different place. It always has been. I'm surprised that Thiel would believe--and make statements as if he's any sort of authority--that this is a recent phenomenon.

Especially Hollywood, adapting popular things from Japan in desperate hope of reaping easy money off people.

I am under the impression that Japan copied our products and technology from the 1950's to the 1980's and made it cheaper but by then had caught up to us and is now developing products on their own. China is now the country who is copying and trying to make things cheaper but is getting closer to catching up to the west.

No, China is just one of the many places where labor is cheap enough that companies outsource the manufacturing and take advantage of "legal" sweatshops, of with child laborers.

By producing cheap knock-off products from the industries we used to have. Also from being besties with the Third Reich and they also play baseball because of the US.
