jeans or levis?

sure levis is much more expensive than jeans. however it is vastly superior and has a better warranty. i would never want to be seen with a jeans somewhere! i am glad that i have my levis! levis buttons are much easier to use, too! and don't get me started on the fly. however designs the flies on jeans must be an idiot!

never mind. i am so over jeans. levis give you so much more for their value! plus you have so many choices .. one needs to be a jeans expert to know which one to pick. it's so much simpler with just buying a levis.

Levis time has passed. If I may use a metaphor, they're like the Dell PC of the Jeans world. Run-of-the-mill production with nothing special to commend them.

Outside a few old-school leather bars of course.

Nudie Jeans are where it's at. If I may use a metaphor....kind of like the Apple Inc. of the denim universe; style and comfort, with an awesome user experience. Plus the stores they sell them in are gorgeous....

I'm into Shrink to fit Levis. I have two pair and they fit and feel great

The only downfall is you have to buy them 2 waist sizes larger than your true fit. I hate people thinking my waist size is 34

I've always avoided "cool" by association, especially name brands.

When I was a young teen, Britannia, Levis, Nike, Addidas, and others were markers of middle class cache. I therefore avoided them instantly.

Later, in my 30's, I had a king cab pickup truck that I really loved, but I noticed my status had improved immediately with several of my straight male buddies. I sold it. I do not want respect for my belongings.

That doesn't mean I always buy generic, but I often remove labels if they show.

Contrarian here.

I'm very, very similar, in that I will never buy anything purely because of its popularity. However, I would never get rid of something I loved if people treated me differently because of it. Honestly, I would be quicker get rid of them.

My casual wardrobe is filled mostly with brands I like (drum and bass record labels / artists, mostly), but I would never remove the labels because it's an expression of me. Granted, it only shows to others my taste in music, but music is a big part of me (that sounds corny, but still). I like the idea that someone can get a small insight into 'who I am' just by looking at me.

Labels and brands need not be an reflection of 'status' or 'superiority', but an expression of self. The people who view them as a sign of status, and judge others accordingly, aren't worth a second thought. They are certainly not worth selling your belongings over.

It's admirable that you seek respect for you and not your belongings, just don't go too far in the opposite direction and compromise enjoying what you like because of it.
